A Christmas Chameleon

For some or other reason I happen to stumble across a chameleon every year round about Christmas, and the strange thing is, I was reading a post by @derangedvisions just yesterday featuring his new chameleon pet. Maybe it's a sighn for me to start taking things a little slower this time of year and be more adaptable to my surroundings... maybe it's completely coincidental. However it may be, I found this little man wondering across the road and stopped to pick him up, they get hit by cars so easily, so when I do find them I try and take them to safety, in this case, a big guava tree behind my house on the farm.

What a lovely Christmas surprise, love chameleon and have not seen one in years, ours are a lot smaller here on the coast.

We have predominantly two chameleons the Flap-neck and the Durban (or Kzn) Dwarf, I have only ever seen the flap-neck in my garden. Durban dwarf chameleon is endangered I believe sighting may be found in Kloof conservancy.

Suburban life has changed, people move in cut down trees for fear of snakes. This has happened more frequently of late so the population of chameleon and fire flies have drastically decreased over the last five to ten years.

Made my day seeing the fist sized chameleon similar to one we had in the garden at home growing up on the Highveld.

Have a wonderful Christmas, you found the best ever live tree decoration, made me smile just seeing one again, even if only on video!
