Dawn of a New Day - Baby Seamo; Splinterlands Fan Art

Not too long ago when sleepless nights meant more time to contemplate everything existential, I was rolling around in my bed, thinking about all the things in my life that I could not control, now as we all know, that never serves anyone well. So just before my mind completely imploded into crevasses of unforeseeable darkness, I decided to get up and keep my mind occupied by giving my hands something to do in stead.

No this is by far not a perfect piece of art, but as part of my 3am salvation, with no tools, limited clay and a glass eye... well lets just say it was fun to do. So I decided to share it with you as my 'Just for Fun" entry in the Splinterlands Art Contest

Who Could It Be?

Splinterlands has always hosted a wide array of monsters, from the entrancingly devious to the heroically cute, and I figured, Why not try something down the middle?

I ended up thinking about some of my favorite Splinterlands cards then my thoughts wondered off the the point in time when they came into existence...Splinter Spawn. And before you knew it I started creating this little baby Sea Monster.

Baby Seamo (Yes, I gave her a name...) didn't come from humble beginnings either, in fact her very first day in existence she was on the cover of a magazine; Literally! certainly not because of fame or infamy, but rather because I had nothing else close at hand to work on.

This little monster was created purely by hand using some polymer clay and a actual on scale glass lions eye (because yes, I had that lying around in my room, yet no tools to work with or any workable surfaces other than a magazine, go figure.)

But that's not all, to make baby Seamo stand out even more, I used some glow in the dark clay on a great deal of her facial and body features. So even on the dark dreary nights she will still stand out in a crowd!

The next day I decided to give Seamo a slightly more stable environment to stay, and I transferred her over to a wooden plaque - sadly I have not paid any attention to her since then. But the two of us, we will always have that one special night...
