A Song, To Help You Never Give Up! Keep Fighting!!

The past couple of months have been paticularly difficult ones... From losing a pregnancy, to going broke for an entire month, to having some big fights built on the frustration of being broke, to our RV suddenly refusing to start and not knowing why! No, these past 2 months have not been easy ones...

So one night I decided to listen to some tunes. Music is my ultimate form of therapy, however, due to our living situation, I have not truly been able to enjoy it for the last 3 years... I love being able to put on the headphones, rock out and sing at the top of my lungs, but having a senior roommate can prohibit that sometimes... I wasn't letting my situation stop me this time though!

I found a song that immediately made goosebumps form on my arms.

My first time hearing this song... I was dating my then-boyfriend at that time, an unemployed drug addict who did nothing but play NHL 2020 all night/morning.

Well, every year when this game is released, each version comes with its own individualized playlist from that period. The 2020 game didn't feature any major artists; there was K. Flay, Of Monsters And Men, X Ambassadors (remember HooOOld! HOLD ON! Hold on! to me / 'Cause I'm a little UNsteaDDy)...

Then there was this one, a song (and artist) that I had never heard of before: Head Up by Don Diablo.

Love love love this song alone for its drop during the chorus, holy shit, this song still goes so hard! 🤯 Another reason is for its extremely upbeat and infectious message -- you just gotta keep your head up throughout all the bullshit! The music video is great, you can't help but grin at the woman's dancing display!

Should go without saying that I was in a terrible place when I first met my husband -- I had just left my extremely toxic relationship, was getting clean from drugs, suicidal, no goals in life... I was drawn to my husband for his vitality, his drive for life and adventure... I will never forget the day that colour started coming back to the world after meeting my husband; I'm eternally grateful 🙏

He has made me stronger! ❤️ Again, I have so much to be thankful for! My husband helped me realize the purpose of life. I love my husband enough that I was willing to have a baby with him, a choice that growing up, I never saw myself making! And this has obviously changed my entire life. I have a reason -- reasons! -- to live now!

How many times have I said I would "quit".... It has been an ongoing battle I have dealt with since I was 19... Imagine if I had, all of the things I never would have the chance to experience... A healthy relationship, with a man who treats me how I deserve, and two beautiful children who have also entirely changed the way I view life...

Despite these fortunate circumstances, of course there are still bad days. Of course I still take things for granted sometimes, or focus on frivolous matters, or get depressed with situations... Listening to this song has reminded me of just how close we truly are to achieving our dreams.

In a month's time, our RV will finally be ready, and we shall finally be on the road, living our best lives...
