Yesterday I saw "Don't look up" and I must confess that it was a painful experience, and not because of the quality of the film, but because of what it shows us of our reality as a society, since it is a satire, I mean a mockery, a exaggeration, and yet it does not seem like it, and I even dare to say that it falls short, as the famous phrase says: "reality surpasses fiction."

Ayer vi "No miren arriba" y debo confesar que fue una experiencia dolorosa, y no por la calidad de la película, sino por lo que nos muestra de nuestra realidad como sociedad, ya que es una sátira, osea una burla, una exageración, y sin embargo, no lo parece, e incluso me atrevo a decir que se queda corta, y es que como dice la famosa frase: "la realidad supera a la ficción".

With a more than interesting cast, led by Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence, who are curiously outnumbered by the performances of other actors such as Jonah Hill and Timothée Chalamet, the Netflix movie is literally about the end of the world, one sadly more realistic than the end of the world that we've seen in other movies that address the same theme, like Armageddon .

What follows is a portrait as a satire, which is nevertheless much more realistic than it seems, and that is one of the merits of the film, of how today's society could react to such news. And that's the depressing part of the movie, or the funny part, depending on how you watch it.

One by one the film shows us our painful truths as a society. And sadly, one by one the viewer sees the fictitious and exaggerated situations of the film, as something that actually already exists, or that it is very likely that it could happen if a situation like the one posed by the film happened.

In "Don't look up", the least important thing is the asteroid that threatens to end the planet, the really important thing is how we react as a society, as humanity to that threat, and during its more than two hours of duration it shows us that the worst threat to our survival is not in outer space, but in ourselves.

En "No miren arriba", lo menos importante es el asteroide que amenaza con acabar al planeta, lo realmente importante es como reaccionamos como sociedad, como humanidad ante esa amenaza, y durante sus más de dos horas de duración, nos muestra que la peor amenaza para nuestra sobrevivencia no está en el espacio exterior, sino en nosotros mismos.

This is a very well done film in every way, although some of the performances did not convince me personally, but it is above all a film to reflect on presented in an accessible tone, it is a harsh and scathing critique of contemporary society that was needed and is appreciated.

Esta es una película muy bien hecha en todos los sentidos, aunque a título personal no me convencieron mucho algunas actuaciones, pero es sobretodo un película para reflexionar presentada en un tono accesible, es una crítica dura y mordaz a la sociedad contemporánea que hacía falta y se agradece.

This is a film that is worth seeing, but that nevertheless runs the enormous risk of becoming only the entertainment of the moment of that same society that criticizes and ridicules, when it can be much more. Time will tell, although the truth is I'm not very optimistic about it, and I don't need a meteor to threaten us to justify my pessimism.

Esta es una película que vale la pena ver, pero que sin embargo corre el enorme riesgo de convertirse solo en el entretenimiento del momento de esa misma sociedad que crítica y ridiculiza, cuando puede ser mucho más. Ya el tiempo lo dirá, aunque la verdad no soy muy optimista al respecto, y no necesito que nos amenace un meteorito para justificar mi pesimismo.
