INVICTUM: A SKATE BRAND PROJECT

Hello Hivemaniacs. Are you all right? Today I bring you the story of Invictum. It's a brand project of mine and my friend's. He started at the Faculdade Federal Fluminense (UFF) in the Entrepreneurship course. Igor Macedo and I decided to create a brand that would convey our lifestyle, help the local skater community, and have a lot of style involved.
Olá Hivemaníacos. Vocês estão bem? Hoje trago pra vocês a história da Invictum. É um projeto de marca meu e do meu amigo. Começou na Faculdade Federal Fluminense (UFF) no curso de Empreendedorismo. Eu e Igor Macedo decidimos criar uma marca que transmitisse nosso estilo de vida, ajudasse a comunidade skatista local, e que tivesse muito estilo envolvido.
Our logo is a chess pawn with a king's crown. We believe that as the pawn, anyone independent of their social class can achieve their goals. That's our philosophy. Until we got to this design we had some extress, we hired a company that did not deliver what we asked for. Then a friend named Diogo Veiga did the initial design of the current pawn. And Igor Macedo gave it a finishing touch.
Nosso logo é um peão de xadrez com uma coroa de rei. Acreditamos que como o peão, qualquer pessoa independente da sua classe social pode alcançar seus objetivos. Essa é a nossa filosofia. Até chegarmos a esse design tivemos alguns extress, contratamos uma empresa que não entregou o que pedimos. Então um amigo chamado Diogo Veiga fiz o projeto inicial do peão atual. E o Igor Macedo deu um toque final.
Invictum started with 3,000 reais my plus 3,000 reais from my partner. Approximately $1,500. In 2014. Basically we took seriously the idea that it was possible to start a giant company with so little money invested. For a few years we worked actively on the expansion of the company. We've done a lot of events, four drops of clothes, and we help a lot of people than we can. When you make a brand, people think you've got rich, but it's not quite out there. It takes a lot of effort and dedication. And money, everything is money and contacts.
A Invictum começou com 3.000 reais meu mais 3.000 reais do meu sócio. Aproximadamente 1500 dolares. No ano de 2014. Basicamente levamos a sério a ideia de que era possível começar uma empresa gigante com tão pouco dinheiro investido. Por alguns anos trabalhamos ativamente na expansão da empresa. Fizemos muitos eventos, 4 drops de roupas, e ajudamos muitas pessoas do que jeito que podemos. Quando se cria uma marca as pessoas acham que você enriqueceu, mas não é bem por ai. Exige muito esforço e dedicação. E dinheiro, tudo é dinheiro e contatos.

What you saw in this presentation is a collection of moments for 8 years. In that time a lot has happened. We need to get other jobs to support the project. Although we don't have time to continue at the moment. We still have the profit from those years of cash work.
O que vocês verão nessa apresentação é uma coletânea de momentos durante 8 anos. Nesse tempo muita coisa aconteceu. Precisamos arrumar outros trabalhos para sustentar o projeto. Apesar de não estarmos com tempo para continuar no momento. Ainda temos o lucro desses anos de trabalho em caixa.
We'd love to live on that alone. In my case of that and the music. But life is hard for the Brazilian entrepreneur. It simply has no government incentive, and overall people are skeptical about new business.
Nos gostaríamos muito de viver somente disso. No meu caso disso e da música. Mas a vida é dura para o empreendedor brasileiro. Simplesmente não tem incentivo nenhum do governo, e no geral as pessoas são céticas em relação a novos negócios.

ASCENÇÃO COLLECTION
To innovate we decided to bring elongated parts. Some with diagonal cut. We made Raglans, MuscleTank Regatta, T-shirts, caps. I really loved the Ascenção result.
Para inovar decidimos trazer peças alongadas. Algumas com corte diagonal. Fizemos Raglans, Regata MuscleTank, T-shirts, bonés. Realmente eu adorei o resultado de Ascenção.
I'm sure that's the best one. It's been a few years and I still wear the same clothes hahaha. We use silk digital on printed blouses. We put a rose background on the logo.
Com certeza essa é a melhor. Já faz alguns anos e eu ainda uso as mesmas roupas hahaha. Usamos silk digital nas blusas estampadas. Colocamos um fundo de rosas sobre a logo.
About the location of the photos... The Foundation of Cidade das Artes is a space designed to house multiple artistic activities, such as exhibitions, dance performances, theater and music. This cultural complex is also used for lectures, workshops, congresses, conversations with authors, book launches and other cultural and artistic training activities.
Sobre o local das fotos... A Fundação Cidade das Artes é um espaço concebido para abrigar múltiplas atividades artísticas, como exposições, apresentações de dança, teatro e música. Este complexo cultural também é utilizado para palestras, oficinas, congressos, conversas com autores, lançamentos de livros e outras atividades de formação cultural e artística.

OUR LAST COLLECTION
In this collection we again call our friends Justen and Bruna to be models. Photographers in the Forest Reserve of Grajaú, you can see it in another post of mine. We also use street elements and a part in McDonalds.
Nessa coleção chamamos novamente nosso amigos Justen e Bruna para nos serem modelos. Fotógrafos na Reserva Florestal do Grajaú, você pode vê-la em outro post meu. Usamos também elementos de rua e uma parte no McDonalds.
This collection was totally disrupted by COVID-19. I forgot that detail. It also made it very difficult for us to continue. The factories closed and we had to stay at home for our families. But in the logistics part we were doing very well. We bought this cotton at a very cheap price. And we closed the production cost pretty cheap too. Which guaranteed us good profit. But the Pandemic came. It was complicated.
Essa coleção foi totalmente atrapalha pela COVID-19. Esqueci desse detalhe. Isso também dificultou muito que continuássemos. As fábricas fecharam e tivemos que ficar em casa por nossas famílias. Mas na parte logística estávamos mandando muito bem. Compramos esse algodão a um preço muito barato. E fechamos o custo de produção bem barato também. O que nos garantia bom lucro. Porém veio a Pandemia. Foi complicado.
FIRST COLLECTION (PRIMEIRA COLEÇÃO)
Our first collection was with part of the initial investment, we used part of the money to make a Merchan, and buy some equipment to sell at fashion fairs. Looking at these pictures I think how fast the years go by. I've lived so many things i forget sometimes. The important thing is to be involved from the heart, to be happy and to be healthy. That's the real success.
Nosso primeira coleção foi com parte do investimento inicial, usamos parte do dinheiro para fazer um Merchan, e comprar alguns equipamentos para vendermos em feiras de moda. Olhando essas fotos eu penso como os anos passam rápido. Vivi tantas coisas que as vezes esqueço. O importante é estar envolvido de coração, ser feliz e ter saúde. Esse é o verdadeiro sucesso.
Man, I've always been a humble family boy. I had good education, food at home and access to health. I have nothing to complain about my mother. But I have ambition want to see my projects grow. The anguish of working on it for years without return has slightly disrupted our plans to be a great company. I've received messages from all over the world praising our project. I believe it may not be your style, but you can't say it's bad. hahaha It is done with a lot of love and quality.
Cara eu sempre fui um garoto de família humilde. Tive boa educação, comida em casa e acesso a saúde. Não tenho do que reclamar da minha mãe. Mas eu tenho ambição quero ver meus projetos crescendo. A angustia de trabalhar nisso por anos sem retorno atrapalhou um pouco nossos planos de ser uma grande empresa. Já recebi mensagens do mundo todo elogiando nosso projeto. Acredito que pode até não ser seu estilo, mas você não poderá dizer que é mau feito. hahaha É feito com muito amor e qualidade.

The interesting thing about this collection is that we were our own photographic models. With time running out, we need to be practical. We went to the terrace of Shopping Iguatemi and did this session in 1 hour.
O interessante dessa coleção é fomos nossos próprios modelos fotográficos. Com tempo corrido, precisamos ser práticos. Fomos ao terraço do Shopping Iguatemi e fizemos essa sessão em 1 hora.

RESUME
My dream is to live on music forever. Continue my brand. Skate until the death. Now that I'm going to be a father, I'm very focused on my goals. We bought a new bed. And we're finishing the kennel work. We're also going to put some floors and a new window. I'm excited about it. My house will look beautiful again. Over the years I've been dealing with the lapses of depression. Lack of money. And I have a hard time accepting help. I sing Rap, I draw clothes, you know the artist's mind can be vulnerable sometimes. That kind of thing got in my way. I heard them talking in the Hive about depression. And for years I felt insecure about my projects. I've always been poor. It's hard for a young kid from the periphery to believe he can achieve all his goals. For a while it even fell under the illusion that it had already achieved. But the fall is high. We must build our castles day after day. Anxiety doesn't get us anywhere. You have good ideas when you relax your mind. I've wanted to be the best skater, the best rapper. I still do. But I'm going to be a father, and I need to build everything calmly. Depression can't exist anymore, and if there is, I must treat it. If we want to be big, we need to take care of ourselves. Today the invictum has a little money in the box, some clothes in stock. We're thinking a lot about what to do. What next step. Soon I'll tell you what we've decided. I really struggled in this post, if there is error I'll correct. Meu sonho é viver da música pra sempre. Continuar minha marca. Skate até morrer. Agora que vou ser pai estou muito focado nos meus objetivos. Compramos uma cama nova. E estamos terminando a obra do canil. Também vamos colocar uns pisos e uma janela nova. Estou animado com isso. Minha casa vai ficar bonita novamente. Ao longo dos anos venho lidando do lapsos de depressão. Falta de dinheiro. E tenho muita dificuldade de aceitar ajuda. Eu canto Rap, desenho roupas, sabe a mente do artista pode estar vulnerável as vezes. Esse tipo de coisa me atrapalhou. Escutei falarem na Hive sobre depressão. E por anos me senti inseguro com meus projetos. Sempre fui pobre. É difícil para um garoto jovem da periferia acreditar que pode alcançar todos seus objetivos. Por um tempo até cai na ilusão de que já havia alcançado. Porém o tombo é grande. Devemos construir nossos castelos dia após dia. A ansiedade não nos leva a lugar algum. Você tem boas ideias quando relaxa sua mente. Já quis ser o melhor skatista, o melhor rapper. Eu ainda quero. Porém vou ser pai e preciso construir tudo com calma. Depressão não pode existir mais, e se existir devo tratar. Se queremos ser grandes, precisamos nos cuidar. Hoje a invictum está com um pouco de dinheiro no caixa, algumas roupas em estoque. Estamos pensando muito sobre o que fazer. Qual próximo passo. Em breve vou dizer o que decidimos. Eu realmente me esforcei nesse post, se tiver erro eu vou corrigindo. I think you should continue with this brand, it has spirit! We all go through difficult times but it shows that you enjoy making the clothes, the photos, etc., so walk the path of your passion and the money will come, you'll see.
