Mi experiencia almorzando en el restaurante “Barrio abajo” 🥩🍺 [ESP-ENG]

Hola amigos, feliz día! Espero que se encuentren muy bien y que hayan tenido un excelente día. Por mi parte, me encuentro bastante bien, de hecho feliz y emocionada ya que estoy haciéndole algunos arreglos a mi sala y era algo que realmente quería desde hace mucho, pero bueno, eso se los contaré a más detalle en otro post y por supuesto, en otra comunidad jaja. El día de hoy vengo a antojarlos un poquito y por supuesto, a recomendarles un lugar al que fui hace poco llamado “Barrio abajo”.

Está salida fue algo diferente ya que por lo general siempre este tipo de planes los hago con mis amigos, mi familia o mi pareja, sin embargo, esta vez el turno fue para compartir con los compañeros de trabajo de Fer.

Today I come to crave you a little bit and of course, to recommend you a place I went recently called "Barrio abajo".

This outing was a little different because usually I always do this kind of plans with my friends, my family or my partner, however, this time the turn was to share with Fer's coworkers.

Algo que tienen acostumbrado a hacer en la empresa donde trabaja Fer es que en cada cumpleaños de algún compañero salen a celebrarlo en un restaurante, en este caso, el cumpleaños fue un fin de semana por lo que si deseaban podían ir con acompañantes.

Al inicio estaba un poco nerviosa ya que solo había salido con ellos en una ocasión, es decir, esta era la segunda. Les cuento que al llegar lo primero que te recibe es una terraza donde también encuentras mesas disponibles y por supuesto, el letrero con el nombre del lugar, inmediatamente no pude evitar pensar en el Restaurante donde fui hace poco ya que ambos tienen esa decoración alusiva al carnaval, cosa que por supuesto, como buena Barranquillera, me encanta.

Cuando llegamos a la mesa que habían reservado solo nos encontrábamos Fer y yo junto a un compañero de él por lo que sin pensarlo dos veces aproveché de tomar varias fotos mientras iban llegando los demás, aunque el lugar es tan grande que me dio algo de pena recorrerlo por completo, en mi pequeño paseo pude notar que tiene algunos letreros en neón, plantas artificiales, cuadros del carnaval de Barranquilla, luces cálidas que son mis favoritas y por supuesto, decoraciones como la típica bicicleta que vende raspao’ y que todos comimos de pequeños en la costa, también cuenta con una pequeña tienda donde venden postres o dulces típicos de aquí.

At the beginning I was a little nervous since I had only gone out with them on one occasion, that is, this was the second one. I tell you that when you arrive the first thing that greets you is a terrace where you also find tables available and of course, the sign with the name of the place, immediately I could not help but think of the Restaurant where I went recently as both have that decoration alluding to the carnival, which of course, as a good Barranquillera, I love.

When we arrived at the table that had been reserved only Fer and I were there along with a companion of his so without thinking twice I took several pictures while the others were arriving, although the place is so big that I was a little embarrassed to walk all over it, in my little walk I could notice that it has some neon signs, artificial plants, pictures of the carnival of Barranquilla, warm lights that are my favorite and of course, decorations like the typical bicycle that sells raspao' and that we all ate as children on the coast, also has a small store where they sell desserts or sweets typical of here.

Mientras esperábamos a las demás personas decidimos pedir una bebida, en este caso yo opté por una cerveza Corona michelada que me encantó porque estaba super refrescante, también aprovechamos de echarle un ojito a la carta por lo que cuando fue el momento ya sabíamos que íbamos a ordenar, en este caso yo opté por una pechuga de pollo gratinada con papas a la francesa y ensalada de aguacate.

La verdad es que este platillo es el favorito de Fer pero de vez en cuando me gusta comerlo ya que son cosas que se pegan jaja, me gustó bastante que la pechuga estaba jugosa y con ese punto de queso exacto ya que he tenido la oportunidad de probar otras y por lo general siento que se exceden con el queso, las papitas estaban crujientes como me gustan y la ensalada espectacular, el aguacate estaba “para hoy” como solemos decir acá al comprar un aguacate jaja, bastante fresco y con ese toque de sal delicioso.

While we were waiting for the other people we decided to order a drink, in this case I opted for a Corona michelada beer which I loved because it was super refreshing, we also took the opportunity to take a look at the menu so when it was time we already knew what we were going to order, in this case I opted for a chicken breast au gratin with French fries and avocado salad.

The truth is that this dish is Fer's favorite but from time to time I like to eat it since they are things that stick haha, I quite liked that the breast was juicy and with that exact point of cheese since I have had the opportunity to try others and usually I feel that they overdo it with cheese, the potatoes were crispy as I like and the salad was spectacular, the avocado was "for today" as we usually say here when buying an avocado haha, quite fresh and with that touch of delicious salt.

Al final había quedado antojada de un agua de panela frappe que había leído en la carta, realmente me llamó mucho la atención y cuando vi la presentación de la bebida, mucho más. Me encantó el toque de la panela rallada por encima, estaba bastante refrescante y frappe así que sin duda la disfrutamos.

Como les comentaba al inicio estaba un poco nerviosa por esta salida, sin embargo, la pasamos muy bien y nos reímos bastante así que al final fue un gran día. Me sentí bien integrada y tranquila. Por otra parte y por supuesto, lo más importante, el lugar estaba increíble, me gustó que aunque se demoró un poco en llegar la orden, la atención fue excelente y la comida estaba muy rica, el hecho de que sirvan platos típicos de la costa es algo que me agrada ya que se siente como si aún conservaran las costumbres. At the end I had been craving for a panela frappe water that I had read on the menu, it really caught my attention and when I saw the presentation of the drink, much more. I loved the touch of grated panela on top, it was quite refreshing and frappe so we certainly enjoyed it.

As I mentioned at the beginning I was a little nervous about this outing, however, we had a great time and laughed a lot so in the end it was a great day. I felt well integrated and at ease. On the other hand and of course, the most important thing, the place was amazing, I liked that although it took a little while for the order to arrive, the service was excellent and the food was very tasty, the fact that they serve typical dishes from the coast is something that I like because it feels like they still keep the customs.
