Walking to the Rhythm of the Blues
The long-awaited walk, not the daily and obligatory one, but the weekly one, is more special because it is the sought-after one, not the routine one.
The walk I call mandatory is the one that requires me to take a minimum of 5000 steps, carefully counted by the app on my phone. Mandatory, because it's done for medical purposes, mainly to keep my old bones from rusting, yet!
The strange thing is that these two kinds of walks, the long-awaited and the routine, are similar in their main part, namely, they both happen, in general, in the same places, so they repeat. But I don't get bored walking through the same well-known places, each time something is changed, from our mood to small changes in the landscape.
In general, the obligatory walk is around the house, through the neighborhood, and the long-awaited one is in the favorite park, now called King Michael Park but called by all the inhabitants of the city Herastrau Park.
This is a large park, the largest in the city (Bucharest), and has the largest indoor lake. I like blue and I like the lake. A walk around the lake is more than 4 km long and that's all I want.
This was a morning walk, a very nice December morning, so I can say it was a walk done a year ago. The best time for the walk is in the morning. It seems like the air is cleaner and there are few walkers.
I chose to show this walk because of the special colors of autumn before they turn grey after the cold kills all the colors of the tree leaves.
Autumn, instead of dressing up nature, has rather undressed it. In these places, in summer, the wisteria reigned supreme with its dark green foliage and purple flowers.
My favorite trees are some that prefer colder regions but because of their beauty, they have been modified to be more decorative and have been planted in parks. I also have some birch trees in my small yard, but they are normal ones, not transformed into weeping trees. Whatever the shape, they are splendid trees!
Now I will try to explain why I chose this title for the post. Before I wrote I had no idea of an attractive title. Then the combination of blue sky and lake made me think of... blue.
Then, because I feel like I don't have enough time to do everything I want to do, I usually listen to music when I write a post, and today I'm listening to a collection of blues on Spotify. Thus today's title was born! An example...
A walk through this park can be long and that's why I chose a place where it ends, at least for this post. The chosen terminus was near (somehow) the Elizabeth Palace.
Elisabeta Palace is the residence of the daughter, Princess Margareta, of the former King of Romania, King Michael, who died a few years ago.
This royal residence is located near the park and is surrounded by a museum, the Village Museum. Because of this we can get quite close and see the palace, actually quite a small palace. From this place, I can also see the Museum, with a wooden church brought from the north of the country.
This museum, the most interesting in the city because the exhibits are houses hundreds of years old and brought from all regions of the country, a museum very visited by both residents and tourists. Soon I will show here some of the walks I made through the Village Museum in Bucharest, Romania.
I'll say it again and again, I've found that my main activity lately is... walking. Like all of you, I love to walk, but only now I have realized that walking has become my main mode of relaxation. Slowly, slowly overtaking the other pleasures I still have.

I to try to get a minimum of 5k steps in each day and for the same reason as you were not as young as we used to be, in summer i find it easy being warmer i head out early and often get over 5k steps in, but in winter its a struggle for me when its so cold outside, but keeping up the best I can.
that park is so beautiful I love the views across the water, and love the people looking over the bridge image
the autumn colors are nice and warm which I needed to see with it so cold here this morning
For me it is unnaturally warm for this time of year when it should be mid-winter and because of this, it is easier to do the 5k steps. It will definitely be harder when winter really sets in.
These walks are really useful, I have the example of my sister-in-law who does walk twice a day, but she is very rigorous, she doesn't miss a day. It has improved her health and mobility.
I hope the weather becomes more pleasant for you too. Time passes so quickly that soon this winter will be a memory too.
Since it's coming, I think I'll be the first to wish you a pleasant weekend!
Yes Winter soon will pass
My Step son and a few friends have an oculus headset and say it gets them good exercise with some of the apps or games I am wondering if one of those would help me get more activity on the colder days, but at $300 its a lot of money and not sure how I will like it, I may have to try the stepsons one out and see what I think.
you to enjoy the rest of your week and have a good weekend
Blown away by the colours. How beautiful! I could walk that route for the rest of my life.
Cheers for the opportunity to listen to some soul-soothing music too. It's been a while since I listened to the blues, maybe it's time to get the guitar back out. Hope you're doing well Blue, all the best for the year ahead.
Thank you! What a pleasure to read your good opinion about this walking place. It was a surprise for me to see that you are drawn to these fall colors, I had formed a wrong opinion, I realize now, that you are a person more inclined to philosophy and less to nature. And to music, now I understand that you play the guitar. Nice! I love music very much but I lack the talent to use any instrument. Right now I feel the same way about the color ( blue), it would seem that I will have a year not as I wanted and with some problems on the horizon that I don't know yet how they will be solved. I'm trying to be optimistic and thank you so much for the good wishes. I wish you well, a good start to the new year, and may it be kind to you.
I love it when someone calls me "Blue", there is also someone else here who calls me that. Thank you!
Wonderful colors, lovely walk!!!
You know what they say, we have two doctors, our left leg and our right leg :)
I find walking very calming and with swimming I think they are my best exercises!
Thanks for telling me! I'm so glad I have two doctors I didn't know about, I'll listen to their advice. The walks are a pleasure but it matters a lot where and I think it's very nice at your place.
Surely if you add swimming, swimming and walking practiced early, it must be good for the body and soul.
Maybe it is a greek saying, I thought everyone said that, haha!
It is pretty nice to know that we have two doctors with us all the time!
And it is nice to walk at my place, the view and the nature are amazing, but we are at the mountain, so uphill and downhill all the time, there is not even one single flat route!
I miss the sea, but the days are getting longer, so summer is not far away :)
Even better, the relief of the terrain forces extra effort that makes the walk even more productive.
I love it so much when the days get longer, I love it the most! You miss the sea but it's so close to you, if I understand correctly from your photos, you can see it all the time, right?
Yes, we can see it but we can't touch it! Though it is only about 20' away by car, not too far!
My two doctors wouldn't mind a flat route just for a change! The dog on the hand loves this wild terrain every time!
That's what I thought. The view is gorgeous!
There are always differences between the desires of humans and dogs.
Oh yes, definitely :)
Amazing pics, and the colors are wow.
Greetings from Arad!
Thank you! Arad is a very beautiful city.
I'm glad you chose Hive and I wish you success. From what I see you started well but the road is long,
you need patience, perseverance, and interaction.
“Walking is the best possible exercise. Habituate yourself to walk very far”. Thomas Jefferson. I love that blues music.
Thank you! I'm glad so many people now practice walking as a healthy exercise.
