A unique seafood experience at "Fish Fetish"

"Greek Love", "Your Ex's Oyster", "Dream of the Fisherman's Wife", "Doggy style with Shrimps", "Sad ex", Foreplays", "Choker", are some of the few unconventional names of items you'll find on the menu.

As odd as you may find the name, the food in the restaurant is actually surprisingly delicious. You must have guessed it already, this is a seafood restaurant. There has been a recent spike in weirdly named restaurants. However, I can assure you that the food served here is more than simply delicious. It is a colorful experience.

I wouldn't consider myself a huge seafood fanatic. I have had my share of exotic seafood gone wrong. However, I loved my experience with the 1 KG seafood mix. It was a mix of crab, lobster, shrimp, salmon, oyster, rice, and corn all cooked with a spicy sauce.

I also remember the traditional Hamour fish I had in Dubai and the Samak Mashawi, too. Oh, let's not forget P.F. Chang's Dynamite Shrimp! That was insane! I wonder if P.F. Chang's is still open today. The last time I was there was almost half a decade ago.

Honestly, I wasn't expecting too much. There is a huge emptiness when it comes to seafood restaurants in the city. The prices naturally are higher than most excellent non-seafood restaurants because of the lack of seafood business here. Also, anything in a mall is automatically expensive.

The menu is just as crazily named as the restaurant. There is no description of anything so you will 100% need assistance from the staff the first time around. It is rather difficult to find fresh here in the city, so finding a highly rated seafood restaurant is an experience that sounds just as cool as it really is.

For starters, we went with the "Crab ball With Aioli And A Sad Ex". This was insanely delicious. So juicy and filled with flavor. The aioli was out of this world! It really set the bar for everything that was to come. Not sure about the sad ex though, couldn't find her. It is safe to say whatever came next simply raised the bar higher.

"Doggy Style with Shrimps" was next. A delicious sandwich made from toasted bread, lightly fried shrimps, with an unknown sauce and topped off with fresh green onions. It also came with a side of french fries and a small bowl of ketchup.

This is the dream sandwich. Honestly, it is the dream meal. If you thought Menya Musashi's Boa was good, this is higher than the competition. The mixed texture of crunchy bread, softly sweet and sour sauce, and slightly chewy shrimps was incredible. I wholeheartedly enjoyed this sandwich.

The choice of the day was Fritto Misto. AKA fried mixed seafood. It is a platter filled with anchovies, squids, two types of shrimps, fries, small octopus, and that lovely sauce. It's the perfect size for two.

image.pngimage.png

This was my first time trying octopus. Bite size octopus was very surprising. I actually liked it a lot! The platter itself is a perfect mix of snacks for a hangout with friends. It is a mix of different textures and flavors in one place. My favorite was the squid. Although it has to be eaten in moderation to enjoy it to the max.

Lastly, the Dorado on Robate with tomato sauce. Since this was a seafood restaurant it was implied that I leave only after having a full fish. We went with the Dorado mostly because it was the most "sanely" named item on the menu.

Fish is a huge part of our culinary culture. I remember back in the day I used to hear a mile for not eating enough fish. Even when we had only fish on the table I would avoid it. Look at me now, going out of my way for fish.

The Dorado was exceptional. It has been so long since I have had a properly cooked fish. I never learned to cook fish and I find it complicated. It is delicate and there is so much that can go wrong. I enjoyed the nicely cooked, lightly spiced white meat. It went exceptionally well with the sauce. We also explored the traditions of our homes by cracking the skull. It is said that the most delicious meat is in there. I can now fully agree.
