Having hobbies isn't a foreign idea to us. Growing up we all had things that we loved to do, regardless of the place of time. Mostly when we are doing that thing we love we are totally immersed in it.

Personally, my hobby used to be reading. I loved to read back then. I did it for fun so I mostly read novels - crime novels. It was fun and intriguing at the time. After a while I grew out of it, I didn't stop reading. I just started having things that were more important to attend to.

As the years went by, I did not have anything that sparked my interest, even going back to reading didn't feel like something I wanted to do. Well, all of that changed when I discovered crochet over a year ago.

As soon as I started learning it was like I had finally found the place I wanted to be. For the next few weeks, no one could separate me from my hook. I was always eager to get back from work and resume creating a new piece. I still do that to date. I feel at peace whenever I'm creating something new.

I'll say the one thing I enjoy about crocheting is that it takes my mind off everything else. When I'm crocheting I have a goal/a picture I intend to recreate and it takes all my focus. Time flies when I'm immersed in it, most times I crochet into the night.

The first few months I started I spent most of my time watching YouTube tutorials trying to recreate what they are teaching. After a while of unsuccessful matching what they are making I realized sometimes they leave out important clues (it may be an oversight on their part).

So I stuck to learning the basics and incorporating them to fit my yarn and hook size. I learnt not to follow what they teach as they say it but to make adjustments where I deem necessary and it made the whole process easier for me.

Crocheting is more than just a hobby for me. It's my happy place and I wouldn't replace it with anything else. I hope to one day pass the goodness in crocheting to my children. Till then, I'll enjoy it on my own.

This is my entry to the WEEKEND ENGAGEMENT I chose option 1

Thanks for stopping by❤

Yet again, this post and your journey as a crocheter shoes that YouTube I've been saving lives since antiquity. 😂

There are many people out there sharing very informative videos. Not all of them will give exactly what we want but I'm pretty sure that you got some tips from there which you are still using till date.

Nice one ✌️

Lol, YouTube has been saving lives for a long time now.

I got a lot of tips, maybe not exactly what I wanted but enough to point me in the right direction. I still watch YouTube videos to date, they help a lot.

Thank you for your comment!
