MY GROWTH OVER THE YEARS

Looking back I am a different person from who I was five years ago, yet I am not so different from who I was five years ago.

I am starting this new week with this beautiful topic from Hive learners which allows us to reflect on how far we have come regarding our personal growth

Tell us about your personal growth as a person. Comparing yourself today with how you were five to ten years ago. How far have you come? What are the steps you took to ensure your growth? Someone might learn from your story

Five years ago, I was still a teen. During that time I had been through some things, so I had priorities and goals, with so much focus. There were a lot of things I wanted to achieve and I was hell-bent on achieving them before a certain age.

When you grow up in a certain condition you get to learn some things earlier than your peers. I got to learn some basic rules of life at a young age, one of which is the fact that no one will freely give you what you want, you have to take it, that is, fight for that thing despite all.

However, one thing is needed in the life of every individual and that is the need to reevaluate yourself now and then, ask how far you have come, what areas you need to improve on to achieve that which you want to achieve.

The first few years were only about survival, not much thought was given to improving my mental health or character as an individual. Five years ago, all I was interested in was finishing college in due time. As the years went by I had to reevaluate myself.

I realized I had unresolved issues with myself from childhood and then I started working on myself. Years ago I wasn’t a very patient person. People who knew me in college are surprised at how calm I have become. I let a lot of things slide these days, things I previously wouldn’t let slide. I used to think I was focused and maybe I was but not as I have become over the last few years. I now have my priority straight while also developing my character.

I used to not care what anyone thought about me, which is a good thing when people try to criticize me negatively, however, I have come to understand the need to take constructive criticism seriously. I may want to hear it but it is important to listen and know that this person is just trying to help or express themselves regarding the way I relate with them. Which is good for social interaction and sustainable friendship.

To become a better person you have to learn from others. As they say, no one person is an island of knowledge, so I do not pass up any opportunity to learn from anyone even when they are quite younger than me because there is vast knowledge everywhere and from every source. Learning has helped shape who I am today.

Self-growth is a continuous process and so it doesn’t end here for me. The need to keep growing is very important and that is my priority. I would like to look back a few years from now and be happy that I have grown in various areas of my life.

Thanks for stopping by❤

No one can be an island. We all need each other if we are going to survive in this crazy world. You did go through a lot, but that was also the reason you buckled up and took control of your life.
It may not be easy, but you will get used to it and soon it will become a habit.
Thank you for sharing this with us.

Exactly, I tell myself that if I didn't experience what I did in the past maybe I won't be who I am today.

To the best of my knowledge Bitmoji avatars are free for personal use but we learn new things daily. So I'll switch the image to something from pixabay. Thank you for pointing it out and for reading my post❤

It is good to know that you are gradually working on your impatience and that is a big sign of maturity and also improving in the areas which you desired is a success.

Thanks for sharing your wonderful personal growth with us🤝

This reminds me of a story where the man has a vast amount of knowledge. Infact, he is a billionaire and well known. However, one time, he got to the company and called an emergency meeting with all staff. Right there, from Vice President to Toilet cleaners, he asked everyone to speak up and talk about their learning experience and also the issues they've had to face. Afterwards, in an interview, he told the magazine how much he learned that day and how to never look down on someone because of status.

This is such a beautiful post. I'm glad you've come so far. Today, is another day and we learn all over again. Meet those goals and Encourage others today. I look forward to your Gold Star

LOVE,
TEEM FIERCE ❤️

This is important, our greatest life lesson can come from the simplest source.

Thanks for the encouragement dear. hope you are working for your star also.

The part of being impatient and learning the art of patience should be applauded. Self growth is indeed a continuous process and I'm glad you took that track. Thanks for sharing...

I agree with you on self growth being a continuous process. Also, for us to grow, we have to accept criticisms both the negative and positive aspects. Positive criticisms help us to focus while negative also helps us to be mindful of certain kind of people and how to relate with such individuals.

Yes indeed. We need both the positive and the negative, we are humans hence we can't be perfect. Thanks for stopping by

You need to go for whatever you want, take it by force. Not giving second thoughts to criticism is a good one but I guess sometimes we just need to listen, there might be some truths.

Well done.

Yes, some criticism is good to help improve us. We just have to recognize the difference and do the needful.
