CROCHET TUBE TOP
Hello friends! I haven’t shared a project I made for a client in a long while, majorly because I always do them in a hurry. I finish it the night before and have to deliver it the next day without the opportunity to take proper pictures. Why do the orders always come in a hurry you may ask? The simple answer is that Nigerians don’t understand 2weeks wait period and always place orders at the last minute and I hate to disappoint.
However, I recently got one that came in due time. She placed an order 6days before she needed the crochet wear which is a reasonable time for me. I got started 2 days after she ordered because I couldn’t get the needed yarn sooner. She ordered two pieces, a skirt, and a top. Today I will be sharing the top since it’s the completed one for now.
I love this top maybe because I did something different than I normally would. Usually, when making a top, I stick to mostly half-double crochet. I don’t use single crochets because I am too lazy and it takes a while to build up, double crochets just expose too much skin, so half double is always perfect. This time, however, I figured out what could go wrong if I mix double and single crochet.
I used my regular hook size for tops which is a 3.5mm hook and started with a chain equivalent to her size but leaving enough space for the back strap. My first row consisted of only double crochet stitches while the next row consisted of only single crochet stitches. I repeated that pattern for the whole of this project.
If you are familiar with how crochet stitches come out then you probably would have noticed the difference, if not, the mixture sort of hides the single crochet rows while making the double crochet look like they are standing alone.
I guess that’s my favorite thing about this top, I love the final result. I would love to know your thoughts on this top?

Crochet is so versatile with its stitches. I love the pattern you created by changing stitches every other row. And the yarn you have used shows a wonderful clear stitch definition.
But you really have stress with such projects…. I don’t think that 6 days is long to crochet an outfit. Hopefully your customers start to understand that you cannot magically conjure up an outfit but must work on it for a lot of hours :-)

I try to meet up but it really is stressful. Most times they are referrals, I just have to squeeze it in somehow so that I don't make the other person look bad. Also, I think it has a lot to do with the fact that around here most people don't know it takes hours to create these projects.
