CROCHET 3-TIER SKIRT
Hello Friend! Welcome to the new month! A few days ago, I shared a tube top that I made for someone and said I was working on the skirt to go with the top. Well as luck would have it I was able to finish the skirt in time for delivery and I am here to share the final result as promised.
The easiest part about the order this client placed was the top. I finished that so quickly, I expected the skirt to go that way. I should say I was a little thrown back when I realized the skirt will take longer than I anticipated, I guess I didn’t do my calculations right this time.
I started the skirt as usual with my waistband. This time I let it stretch past the waist measurement for ease of entry through the hip. When measuring the band I didn’t stretch as usual but instead used 4 inches less than the exact measurement without stretching.
It is a 2 layer skirt, so I have to work on the first layer which consists of the solid part of the skirt, this is needed so that the skirt won’t show so much skin. For this first layer, I worked double crochets in every row, making increases where necessary to accommodate the hips then I made some decreases as I went further to give it a more fitting look.
Since I was aware I would need to add a second layer which consists of 3-tiers of lace stitches I made provisions for that, I would crochet in only the back loop after every 9 rows, the front loop I left behind would later be used to start a tier.
To start the first tier, I attached my yarn at the back where I had my seam line, then did single crochet stitches in the front loop I left behind when making the first layer. I did a mixture of shell stitch with double crochet and chain for the next row. The repeat pattern was 3 double crochets chain 2, 3 double crochet for the shell, then 1 double crochet chain 1 before I did the next shell. I did a total of 8 rows of this for each tier and then I was done with the skirt.
I must say, after seeing the final result I felt all the stress I went through to complete this skirt was worth it. I love it so much, I would make one for myself but I rarely do one pattern twice unless there is a demand for it. However, I may make an exception for this one. What do you think?

Beautiful. How did you do it by machine or handmade with a yarn needle?
Thank you. It's handmade and I used a crochet hook, a yarn needle is used occasionally but mostly it's done with crochet hooks.
Your welcome
This is so beautiful and the colour is so lovely too.

Wow this is super gorgeous and top-notch, you've done a great job, the second layers and the way it overlay on each other makes the skirt elegant.
