Biryani is basically a mix of different rice preparations cooked in a deep pan. The word biryani comes from the Urdu words "bizarani" and "tha." Biryani means "the dishes to eat." This dish is one of the most popular food preparations in Pakistan.

Biryani is served when leftovers are still on the same bed of rice or when leftovers are needed for the next day's lunch. Biryani can also be called roti, punjabi or chapatti. In most regions, it is prepared with plain white flour or grounded black flour. Sometimes, whole wheat flour is also used. Sometimes, marinated meat or chicken, tilapia or other fish are also added to the biryani to give it a different taste.

When buying a biryani, the quality of the ingredients is more important than the style or color of the dish. Usually, it is cooked quickly so that the flavors do not seep through. A good quality biryani should have a rich and intense chicken flavor and be tender enough to eat. It should have a hint of nutty flavor, as well as be slightly crispy. An inferior quality biryani will lack the complexity and depth of flavor, making it bland and flavorless.

Traditionally, biryani is served with a sweet Indian dessert called "jaag ka durbar", or sweet marinated rice. Another popular Indian dessert is rasam, or pureed rice. Both of these foods compliment the strength of the Basmati.

While there are many variations in cooking the Indian biryani, all recipes use rice, clarified butter, chicken or even beef as ingredients. These ingredients are combined together with Indian cooking spices such as cardamom, cumin, fennel, cinnamon, cloves, black pepper and ginger. The duration of cooking depends on how the ingredients are combined. In many cases, when the rice is not cooked completely, it is left in the pot to absorb the flavor of the other ingredients.

The best biryani rice is made by cooking the rice separately from the other ingredients, while preparing the milk for the dessert. This allows the steam to permeate the rice. It is then cooked in steamer, where the steam helps to release the flavor. There are various ways of preparing the biryani, depending on the variety of chicken or fish used, as well as on the amount of spices and ingredients used. In many cases, people add vegetables and cooked grains to enhance the flavor.

A traditional recipe for biryani rice contains two or three chicken pieces, coriander, onions, garlic, tomatoes, salt and turmeric. If you want to make it taste better, you can add a few drops of oil and some salt before serving. In order to avoid wastage of ingredients, always add them last, right after the chicken are cooked. For extra authentic flavor, add some onions and green chilies before cooking, along with the spices listed above.

If you make this at home, you can easily experiment with different ingredients and spices to come up with your own masterpiece. You can make it with a low heat and serve it with masala for less, or add a bit more of oil, salt and cook the rice in your own home appliance, such as a pressure cooker. If you find that the rice is still too dry after three minutes, add a little more milk and continue cooking until the rice is fully cooked.

And don't forget the fresh coriander leaves to top it off! You can use the same technique for making other types of Indian recipes with this recipe, such as samosas or rasam. Just substitute the mango for potatoes whenever possible.

Rasam is an excellent starter dish, especially if you are hosting a family. However, it's also great to serve if you are on a diet because it's quite low calorie. You can substitute cream for milk or yogurt and skip the sugar and salt; however, you will need to adjust the spices used. Start by adding the onions, garlic, tomatoes and turmeric. Then add some oil and let it fry while you blend the spices in.

Masala is a famous traditional curry sauce made from meat, onions, tomatoes, cumin, spices, vinegar, chicken stock, and tamarind. The best way to make it is by using whole spices, ground pepper, and the leftovers of the meat. You can start cooking it immediately or save it for later so that the flavors will meld well. It can be enjoyed with a dessert after dinner or in the morning as a breakfast food. If you haven't tried it yet, you should give it a shot.
