Review:

The film tells the story of Andy Dufresne, a successful banker who was accused of murdering his wife and convicted unfairly of being taken to life in prison. And within the Shawshank jail, Andy manages to earn the trust of the director and the respect of his comrades, and especially of Red, the bribe's mafia boss.

Soon Andy knows the evils of imprisonment and identifies as obstacles to the full freedom of him and the other companions ... the punishments are severe, the confinement was guaranteed by the walls, fences and guards, a total isolation in relation to society being sufficient to express the adversity of prisoners.

However, Director Warden introduces himself to new detainees as an administrator attached to discipline and his own understanding of the Bible, leaving everyone feeling intimidated. Just as the penitentiary residents themselves represent some kind of threat, causing tension in the youngest, where some groups protect their members and intimidate or attack other detainees is another practice carried out by the convicts who destabilize the confinement.

And whoever does not fit into some kind of groups eventually suffers the consequences and goes through serious problems, and as Andy does not fit into any group, he remains lonely being raped by the group of homosexuals, until Red approaches and he starts to be part of the group.

A long imprisoned period makes men create habits, experience and naturalize a routine that gives some regularity, some certainty to their lives, even if it is bad and adverse, there is still the feeling of collectivity and gives some strength to deal with the deprivation of life. freedom.

Red - the outgoing and crafty guy who smuggles objects into prison, enjoys some privileges and still establishes a rich friendship with Andy.

Andy, on the other hand, is the opposite of Red: silent, very cultured, observant, taciturn, sometimes cold and incompatible with the prison where he is.

“A Dream of Freedom” is a beautiful cinematic experience about man's struggle for hope and freedom, even in the midst of injustices and oppression in the prison system. This film shows how the drama emerges from a man's struggle against the physical and symbolic prisons that rise around him and inside him. The film "A dream of freedom" conveys a message, directly or indirectly, in which optimism takes center stage.

A film with great doses of optimism, equally hard and intense.
