My recent design of gathered gown I made for myself to a wedding
Hello everyone
Greetings to you all @needleworkmonday, it's a beautiful day here and I hope you all are doing great
Last week Saturday was scheduled for the wedding of my close friend in the neighborhood and to grace this occasion, it is well known in Nigeria that for such occasion, the bride or the groom family will pick a particular fabric to be sold for people to wear as uniform to celebrate with them, for this particular wedding, this is the fabric choose by the bride's family, so I decided to get 4yards of it to make something simple since it is an inferior material, I didn't want to spend much in sewing it that was why I concluded in making a short gathered gown with half length of princess dart bustier with long sleeve.
The wedding was just for close family and friends to attend, so it was a great honor for me to be part of the celebration between oladipupo and oluwaseun.
On Friday, which was a day to the date of the wedding, I had to quickly cut and sew my dress, though I was given the fabric for like a week ago but was very reluctant to make it, since it's for me, I believe I will definitely make it even if it's the very day of the wedding 😂😂
To make this simple and beautiful dress, I measured and cut out x4 of my waist measurement with 2" for zipper allowance which was taken to my sewing machine to run a long stitch and gathered it to my waist circumference measurement
It was set aside and I proceeded to the drafting of my upper bodice of princess dart bustier on a brown paper which was later transfered to the main fabric to cut out same shape.
At the back, I cut out a basic back bodice with lining and it was sewn together.
The front upper bodice were sewn together after I had ironed warden to the bust area for it to be firm and sewn to the back bodice as well
The lower part was sewn to the upper part and I have an armless dress, then finally, I cut out a long sleeve from the remaining fabric and have it sewn to the dress with the zipper at the back.
This is my complete dress with a stylish flounce across the shoulder to waistline
Your dress is beautiful and you looked amazing! The newly wed couple looked stunning as well! I love how your culture takes class to a whole new level. I admire the fabrics and handwork that is done with them. Just beautiful ~
