Greetings to you all in this community and I hope you are doing great with your needle and thread, it is so good to share with you today the making of my choir anniversary outfit of a simple kimono bubu made of kampala fabric.

On Sunday was our 3rd choir anniversary in church and we had to wear same outfit as uniform for the service of songs, because of the high cost of fabric and other things needed for the anniversary, we agreed on buying this kampala fabric and we were given 3 yards each to make same outfit, suggestions for the type of outfit were made by different people and considering the yards given to us, we concluded on making this simple kimono bubu with V-neckline and a stylish patch in front.

Most people took their fabric to their friends and family who knows how to sew to make their outfit for them, then I also brought mine home to sew for myself and the outcome was really nice, this is my first attempt of making an outfit like this, I never really liked a very common style that is so rampant everywhere, this is one of the outfit I never thought of making for myself but since it's a uniform that I will only wear once in a while, I have to wear it, because majority of the people agreed on the particular style.

Though, after I finished sewing it and I put it on, I later liked it as it looks good on me.

Let me take you through the simple cutting and sewing process.

I folded the fabric in 4 with 16" since it's a kimono, the sleeves will be cut together with the main bodice.

From the shoulder line on the folded part, I measured 7" for the shoulder line and from which I measured 9" for the sleeves, the shoulder slope was connected with 1.5", for the back neckline, I measured 3 x 1.5" from the shoulder I measured 9" for the armhole circumference and connected it to the waistline to hipline, which were divided by 4 + 2" ease and seam allowance.

The full length was the same as the fabric full length which was 45", the lines were connected and it was cut out.

One of the bodice was removed to make the front part of the outfit, the front neckline was cut in a V shape with 8" depth.

To pipe the V-neckline, the fron and back were sewn together on the shoulder line then I cut out a plan satin material of 2 x 30" after measuring the round neckline, and the patch in front was measured 10 x 10" ironed with interfacing to make it firm and easy to sew.

On the sleeves, I folded it in by 1.5" on both sides, then I sew the V-neckline with the plain fabric to stand as collar.

The piece for the front patch was style as a v underneath it and was sewn to the middle on the front part on the V shape.

I cut out a pocket and sew it to the right side of the dress.

Finally, both sides were sewn together with 1" seam allowance and it was hem on the full length with 1.5" and my outfit is ready.

The remaining pieces from the fabric was used to make a matching bag I took to church with my out, I will be sharing that in my next post.

I hope you like the beautiful outcome of my kimono bubu outfit.

Thanks for your time, support, comment and encouragement. Until my next post.
