Happy new week and a beautiful Monday to you all, I hope you are doing great with your creativity, reading through today's post, I have seen a lot of creativity from fellow needlewokers here @needleworkmonday and I'm so impressed of the beautiful and lovely post, they are so inspiring that I never wish to miss out on the weekly post, I must say you are all doing great.

I will be sharing with you in my post today the simple and stylish gown I made for my niece for a wedding within her budget. Looking at what is going on in the country presently, you really need to do things within your budget as things are very expensive and everything is been affected, my niece had a wedding to attend and the Color code for the wedding is royal blue and silver or white, whichever is convenient for the family and friends and as such my niece did not have a royal blue outfit and didn't want to be left out, at first, she decided to go for a lace fabric but with what she had on her budget, it's definitely not going to be possible because she will spend more on the main lace material and other materials like satin, lining, hair stay, zipper and so on, to make it more beautiful, she will also need to add some applique to the dress as well, so I advised her to go for something simple within her budget and I came up with this.

I bought 2.5 trouser length of plain fabric by 45", 1 matching color zipper for gown and thread from the market, as soon as I got home, I began the cutting and sewing process.

Let's get started with the cutting and sewing process.

The fabric was folded in 2 with the waistline divided by 4 Plus 8" and I marked out her waistline to full length measurement, then the waist and hip circumference was divided by 4 and marked as well.

From the knee line, I connected it to the end of the full length and it was cut out.

I folded the fabric again to cut out the back piece and to do this, I added extra 6" to the other side where I added the zipper allowance with 1" dart at the side, then it was cut out.

For the upper bodice, I drafted out a princess dart bustier with a conventional dart for the front and at the back, I made a basic block pattern with low back, then it was transferred on the main fabric.

The pieces were all taken to my sewing machine and I began to sew the pieces together.

For the upper bodice, I cut out facing for the front and back and it was used to turn the neckline.

The front and back were sewn together at the shoulder and it was set aside, the I processed to the lower part of the gown.

The two pieces for the back were sewn together with 1" leaving the space for zipper after I had sewn in the dart, then the front was sewn to the back with the side seam.

The upper bodice was finally sewn to the lower part.

To complete the outfit, I cut a basic sleeve and sew it to the armhole circumference and small pieces of applique was added to the front upper bodice with glue gum.

This is the final outcome of the dress, now my niece have her outfit to the wedding which cost her less than $5, initially with what she intended, it would have cost her $15.

She was happy to attend the wedding with the color code and a simple and beautiful outfit, I hope you like this and how it looks on her.

Thanks so much for your time, support, comment and encouragement. Until my next post.

Wow, this dress is a bomb. She looks spectacular, her pose is stunning and she won't go unnoticed anywhere, all thanks to her cute aunt.
You did a great job, and even if you wanted to cut costs, this dress looks expensive.

Wow! Thanks so much for this beautiful comment, though compare to what she wanted earlier, this is less expensive and I'm happy the outcome looks nice on her.
