Sharing with you today in this community is the cutting and sewing process of this simple and beautiful bag I made for my niece from left over satin material. Making it was so easy for me and I'm happy I got the desired result I needed, it's not to big neither is it too small, it just the perfect size as I'd wanted it to be.

My niece called that she needed me to make a small bag for her after seeing most of the bags I made recently for myself and my friend, she said she loved those bags that she will be needing one for her friend's birthday party, I knew she was definitely going to ask me to make one for her so it wasn't really a surprise to me when she asked. I didn't want to make the usual ones I've been making for her, I wanted hers to be different since she's still in her teen age, so I decided to make something simple of her age grade that will look lovely on her just as seen on my mannequin.

Let's get started with the cutting and sewing process.

On my satin, I measured and cut out 24 x 12" and it was cut out on the matching lining as well.

On the satin, I ironed my soft interfacing on it to make it firm as it was too light for my intended project

The lining and satin were sewn together right side to right side on the 24"

It was opened and I press it with my pressing iron to give it a neat look.

I folded it together and ironed it thoroughly for the lining to lay properly behind without showing at the tip.

I marked 1" from the tip downward and I sew in it, from the 1" I marked 0.5" and sew on it as well to make a loop for an elastic band.

It was folded in two on the wrong side and I sew on the satin round leaving an opening by the tip were I made the loop for elastic. On the lining, it was sewn round with and opening at the base for it to be turned inside out.

On the four edges, I measured ,1.5" and sew on it just as seen below the it was cut out.

The opening on the lining were sewn together.

I cut out elastic band of 0.5 x 12" and inserted it in the loop.

To make the hook for the chain handle, I cut out a bias strip of 4", folded it in two and sew on it, the I cut it into two for the two sides.

The bias was sewn to the tip of both sides and the chain handle from my old bad was inserted to it.

This is the final and beautiful outcome of the bag I made for my niece. I hope you like it.
