Couples matching outfit I made for myself and my husband using African print fabric
Hello everyone

I want to use this medium to appreciate you all for your support, comment, encouragement to my blog, it's so lovely to have you all around me making this year a beautiful one for me, to the moderator, builder and all members of the community I want to say a big thank you to you all and also wish you a happy new year in advance.
Today I will be sharing with you as usual the making of this beautiful couples matching outfit I made for myself and my husband using African print fabric. As you may all know, I am my husband's fashion designer, I make my husband's outfit to what I prefer, all he does is to buy the fabric and wear whatever style I make from it for him and I'm so happy that I have not disappointed him as he is always surprised and proud of me at what I eventually make for him.
I love making my husband's outfit as the remaining fabric will be used to make my own outfit, the thing is he always love us wearing matching outfits at most times especially to church and other events so instead of buying 8 yards of fabric for both of us, I prefer him but 6yards which I will make for him and myself as well. After making his outfit from this fabric, I used the remaining to make a simple gown for myself with a matching color plain fabric added to the sleeves just as I added to his top at the center front.
Let me take you through the cutting and sewing process of this simple and beautiful short gown.
After making my husband's outfit, the remaining fabric was folded in 4 using my hip circumference measurement divid by 4 plus 2" with the full length of the African print fabric.
I marked out my bodice measurement with the neckline and it was cut out.
I always like to sew lining to my outfit to make it firm, full and avoid seeing through it, so I cut out a black lining of same shape.
The lining was used to turn the neckline and the hem as well as both sides of the front and back bodice with 0.5" before it was sewn together with the seam allowance of 1" the remaining 0.5" was left for the ease allowance of the gown.
I proceeded to the sleeves as I cut out a basic sleeve of 7" with lining used to turn it inside out.
From the remaining fabric I used to make a design on my husband's outfit, I cut out a cone shape of 9" with lining.
The lining was used to turn it inside out then I made a loop at the hem where I inserted an elastic band to gather it together.
The plain fabric was pleated and sewn to the tip of the basic sleeve
From the plain fabric, I cut out a pocket and sew it to the right side of the dress just to give it a beautiful look.
The sleeves were sewn to the armhole circumference of the gown and I have my beautiful outfit ready.
I hope you like the beautiful outcome of our simple couples matching outfit.
To spice it up, we had a matching color head gear and cap to the outfit and it's so beautiful.
The outfit looks good on you both, I actually love couples who wear matching outfits too.
It's a good thing that your husband appreciates your efforts too
Well done dear.
He is so fond of it that even on casual outing, he would like my outfit to have a touch of the color he's wearing, I'm getting used to it anyways 😂😂
