Thoughts about the newest Humble Drop: February 2024
Woohoo, another month and there is yet another in the endless game airdrop machine that is the Humble Bundle Choice subscription. I really have to keep remembering not to buy things... even when they are on sale, because they always seem to end up appearing on the Choice bundle.
Anyway, this month looks to be a mix of great games that I've already wishlisted... with some unknown (to me...) ones, that look sort of interesting... and others that look interesting, but aren't for me... perhaps others will be interested in those?
Life is Strange: True Colors
Scorn
Destroy All Humans 2: Reprobed
Beacon Pines
There is No Light: Enhanced Edition
Children of Silentown
Oaken
Snowtopia: Ski Resort Builder
Leading the pack this month is Life is Strange: True Colours... a spin-off from the original Life is Strange series, the story follows another young person and their journey. I LOVED the original Life is Strange... if you are looking for beautiful story-telling and something that has a good deal of artistic merit, these are the games for you. This time, your powers involve the capturing of other's emotions... really quite curious where this game goes with that... and I have full trust in the developer to tell AS compelling a story as the last one! Already installed!
Next up, Scorn... an atmospheric first person horror adventure game... sigh, I'd really want to be able to play these games... but I'm such a chicken, I would be terrified for months and not able to sleep. I think this is going to be a pass for me, but not because of the game... just because I'm a wimp when it comes to horror games and movies... and books.
Teeheee... the original Destroy All Humans was such a stupidly hilarious romp... and now, decades later, we have a follow up... and just watching the trailers, it looks just as stupidly comical as the original! I've already installed this...
Beacon Pines is another horror game... within a book. But the art direction is so beautiful that I'm going to try and be a grown-adult and be brave. I'm going to keep this and install it, even if it is horror... at least it doesn't look like it is a first person jump-scarer... and the characters look so cute!
Next up, we have There is No Light in an Enhanced Edition. It looks like a pretty decentish Action RPG... but those games haven't really ever landed properly with me. I like them for a bit, but then rapidly tire of them. Even the original Diablo in the old days... just never really did it. I just get tired of the repetitive loot grind... which is sort of hilarious, as that is what I LOVE about RogueTech!
Ooooh... another horror game in Children of Silentown, although it is billed as a "dark adventure" game. Again, there is something so touching about the art style and presentation that make sit more than the regular horror jump-scarer. It looks incredible, and there seems to be the surface of a really well presented story underlying it... I'm keeping this one!
A Turn-based Rogue-like in Oaken. It looks pretty well polished, but I've got so many rogue-like games in my collection that I can't really justify adding YET ANOTHER one... however, this does look like the art style would suit my kids... so, maybe I'll keep it just for them?
Hmmmm... a snow resort management/builder in Snowtopia... it might be okay, but I do love my management games more in the style of Paradox games... it looks cute, but I am afraid that I prefer grand strategy!

Humble Bundle
Have you heard of Humble Bundle? It's a place to get some really great deals on Games, e-books and comic bundles. However, if you sign up for a Humble Bundle Subscription (12 USD per month) you get some really nice bonuses!
- A 100+ USD bundle of games delivered direct to you each month, redeemable on Steam, Uplay or direct download (depending on the game). This includes recent Triple A games!
- Access to the Humble Bundle "Trove", a list of 60 games (and growing...) which are free to play as long as you remain a subscriber!
- Additional Discounts on the Humble Bundle store, with the choice of supporting charities, Humble Bundle or developers in whatever percentage that you wish!
Humble Bundle Subscriptions, it's a no brainer for the dedicated gamer!
Are those games for free, though? Nonetheless, Splinterlands mentioned? Mind telling me how it works? I could definitely use some guide for it.
It is a monthly subscription that is quite cheap considering the number of games that drop to you every month. You can find out more by following the Humble Bundle links!
