Small Wins...

Sigh... still slogging away at the crypto reporting nightmare that is the Australian tax system... and promising to myself that NEXT YEAR, I will keep up with the record keeping on Cointracking throughout the year! Sure...
Anyway, lots of combing through and vetting transaction imports (most of which are for fractions of cents...) does make the brain go quite numb after a while.... and so, I've been doing some gardening and practicing the violin to break it up.
However, it can also be fun to trawl through the local auction house and try to throw down some stink bids on deceased estate coin and precious metals collections. Of course, keeping the auction premium of nearly 20 percent in mind!
I've had quite a few weeks of not winning anything... but that isn't really the point. It is just for the sheer joy of looking up the coins, checking the precious metals content... and just getting my own bid in, on the off chance that I get lucky!
Well, I did pick up three 0.5 content Australian Florins today... at spot price. Nothing grand to write home about, but still... it was nice to have a winning bid after so long without anything! I have a few of these florins already, and it isn't the higher content of earlier florins. It is nice to have some pre-decimal coins, but it is likely that these ones will find their way back to the second-hand marketplace to raise some more funds for some more serious bids on fine silver pieces... or crypto!
Interestingly, whilst I was picking these up from the auction house, there was also a violin that was being sold. I'm always just keeping an eye out for violins... again, on the off chance that there is something decent that I can pick up on the cheap without anyone noticing! I asked if I could try it... and the guy in charge said that it was no problem, and he'd be surprised if I could get any sound out of it.
Well, the problem was that the strings were hideously slack... and out of tune, and the bridge was best described ads completely askew! So, I fixed it all up... and fired off some notes on it. It had a nice body of sound to it, but it was in terrible condition... lots of open seams, and it appeared to be a German factory instrument from around 1905. I might just put down a cheap bid on it... there might be a moment when it would be useful to have an instrument that isn't that expensive and relatively disposable! Perhaps... or maybe it would just drive my wife nuts that I've started to take up even more space with my instruments... but she has several pianos and harpsichords...
Anyway... I'm done doing taxes for the evening. I see that there are are a batch of new coins and silver up on the auction site! Back to preparing those stinky bids!

Baby ones, but still worth it! I've got 4 stinky bids still alive for tomorrow!
