Silver Tableware anniversary
Wow... time has really flown by, it is now our 16th wedding anniversary coming up soon! We have always done the "traditional" suggestions for the anniversary gifts... it is completely dorky, but it is sort of nice to have some sort of framework to find a present within!
This year is Silver Tableware... not pure silver of course! And I was searching around trying to figure out if I wanted to get new silverware... or antique ones. In the end, I settled on the antique variants... the modern ones were always just so plain, whereas the older ones had some much more character in their designs.
I had settled on two older designs.. one round one and one rounded rectangle... and as usual, I asked my girls which one they thought was better. They both settled on the round one, but I liked the rectangular one better... so, in the end, I purchased both!
The round one had a three legged base... and it was a good deal larger than I had thought it would be! I was expecting something about hand sized, but it is more like a proper dinner plate size!
Meanwhile, this is the rounded rectangular one... in person, I'm less convinced about this one... but it does still look a million times better than the modern variants which are just like a shiny silver flat mirror in design.
... both of them have a touch of tarnishing on them... but that is to be expected for this sort of thing... in fact, I would be a little bit worried if it DIDN'T have a little bit of tarnishing!
Anyway, I do wonder if my wife remembered that our anniversary is coming up... she has had a stressful and busy period of work playing for university students and a million other things, and I can imagine that it just slipped her mind.
Ah well, if that is the case, I bought two presents!
