RogueTech: Bengy's Maurauder's (AAM #001)

YESYESYES! I was finally able to get the heavily modded version of BattleTech working on my gaming laptop, and now I'm in charge of small mercenary company trying to survive in a ruthless Inner Sphere that doesn't care what happens to me or my charges.

My starting line up is a bit of a motley crew of primitive old technology and a some really nice pieces of near cutting edge technology. But, in an universe where every shot could spell the end of your Mech and Pilot, you do have to be careful... and ready to absorb some hideous losses on the way... but that is the challenge that I LOVE about RogueTech!

Starting off with my powered infantry... I made sure to purchase a squad of PPC equipped powered armour. The are slow, even though they are equipped with jump jets, but they are visciously hard to hit... and they distract the enemy Mechs long enough for me to do some serious damage from my larger units. Plus, in the close urban confines, they can close the distance... and then start swarming the Mechs and rip them apart with their claws!

Next up was another start up purchase... a heavy tank. I was trying to decide between an fast Electronic Warfare tank, or this hard-hitting close quarters slugger. In the end, I chose for heavy firepower... and this hasn't disappointed! Again, in the close confines of an urban battlefield, this AC20 equipped monster will rip apart Mechs... but you just have to get close enough!

The strangely mis-shappen jewel in my Mech lineup is this primitive Hector. Weighing at 70 tons, it is a seriously heavy Mech... but it was held back by primitive structure, electronics, armour, heat sinks, and engines. I will cost about a month and around 1-million C-Bills to upgrade it fully... but when it is done, it will be a heavily armoured monster with a fearsome weapons loadout that will form the backbone of Bengy's Marauders for a good few cycles!

So far, I've fixed up the armour and structure, and the sensors. Replacing the engine with a modern Fusion engine will complete the Cinderella transformation... but I'm short on cash!

Next up, a medium weight class Dervish... designed as a hit and run Mech, and equipped with some of the most advanced Inner Sphere tech (Streak SRMs) and some captured Clan Tech (Heavy Medium Lasers).... it runs hot, but packs a nasty punch when it flanks the enemy lines!

This Dervish is a slightly lighter Medium Class Mech... and I've outfitted it to be an powered infantry hunter... as I had mentioned before, powered infantry is a right pain in the arse to hit with Mech weaponry... but this Mech is fitted with an array of MGs which does extra damage with extra accuracy against Battle Armour. It can also serve duty as a light flanker and a killer of light armoured vehicles.

... and the last Mech in my regular lance lineup... a light Commando. At the moment, it is serving as a light flanker... but I do want to refit it to serve as an Electronic Warfare unit. It doesn't do enough damage to make it worth fielding weapons over ECM and Active Probes.... and maybe an artillery tagger?

Finally, this high-tech Fireball is a tiny baby of a Mech, but it has some serious Clan Tech loaded up in it. Sigh... I think I will canabalise this Mech and take the equipment and weapons to load up onto the rest of the lance.

So, the Inner Sphere awaits... I'm going to have to grind green half star missions until I get some cash to transform the Hector... and then, I can start seeking some better paying missions. But as usual, I'm more in the hunt for Clan Tech rather than C-Bills!

I always preferred MechCommander... I did love Mechwarrior, but the tabletop translation was always fun, the salvaging and all of that!
