Okay, I'm was about to start my little write-up of the tour of the legendary Perth Mint... but I figured that I would just do the gift shop part of the visit first as a completely separate post. There was so much interesting stuff to write about the tour, and this wasn't really part of the tour... more of a wandering around, drooling at all the pieces of shiny that was on display!

So, read on if you want to see shinies!

Now, I didn't manage to take photos of every single display cabinet! I'm pretty sure that going around with a camera and taking photos of absolutely everything in the Perth Mint is a great way get a "gentle" questioning from the security... so, just select little things of what caught my eye as I was wandering through.

First up... the 2018 wedding of the Royal, and now not-Royal Henry and Meghan! I was sort of surprised that these were still on display, as I would have thought that they were persona non-grata in a Commonwealth country as they fled to seek refuge in the breakaway colony of the United States. But here we are...

Would you be enticed by a collection of every gold sovereign ever minted by the Perth Mint? They aren't big, but they are gold!

... hmm, something is a little out of place here. Not silver or gold... but you can get soaps, timber products, and water bottles. Pretty cool designs and all, but that isn't why you visit the Perth Mint physical store! Plus, for the price that you would pay for these, I would get a 1oz silver kangaroo or something like that!

Magical Creatures... a 22k AUD 1 oz gold coin! I would have picked it up, but I left my 22k bank note in my other pants.

I have a special affinity and liking for the colourised coins. I know that they aren't always the most popular amongst the hardcore, but I really love the designs and I think that the colours really can accent the silver underneath. These were some of my favourites in the displays. The dragon is pretty damn awesome!

And if functional is more your thing... if you consider wearing a stupid amount of wealth on your person to be functional, then there were all manner of wearable jewelry from rings and necklaces through to the more old fashioned brooches and tiaras. Personally, I'd be pretty uncomfortable and wary about wearing this sort of stuff in public!

... and in this display, all the current bullion pieces that the Perth Mint offers! This is really a heartwarming sight! One of everything please!

There is also a special partnership with Opals and Diamonds in the gift shop... most notably, the Argyle Diamond mine in the north of Western Australia. This is a pretty famed diamond mine that is famous for...

.. pink and rose diamonds! I have to say, they are pretty awesome, even if pink isn't really my colour!

So... there you go, the Perth Mint gift shop... stop drooling!
