Exhausted but Happy... Concert Wrap Up

Phew... the wrap up for our recent chamber music concert has finally finished. And it was a great way to kick off our 2025 chamber series... we had great guests, a great audience turnout, two great reviews, and a batch of amazing photos as well... so, all in all, a really awesome shared experience, which is exactly what a live music concert should be!

But after the concert dust settled... well, the post concert administration and logistics...

The first thing was getting our guests to the airport... they were on the first flight of the morning. We had tried getting them a maxi taxi... as they had two large instruments with them which wouldn't fit into a wagon. But weirdly enough, no company wanted to send out maxi for only two people... even though we said that we needed it for the instruments... or maybe they just didn't want to send one out in the wee hours of the morning.

... so, that meant that we ended up both waking up to do the airport run...

Next up... the tidying up of finances... logging the expenses, paying the musicians, sorting out the income and then setting it all into the per-concert financial wrap and the end of year financial report. Thankfully, we are in a pretty decent condition on the finance front!

Then, we updated the website and socials with the reviews and photos... and then collated the various emails that wanted to be added to the mailing lists. We have several different streams of people who are interested in our group now... some are interested in the main concerts, others are interested in the children's concerts and outreach... and the last group are the community event people. So, we also had to figure how to segment our audience to make sure people were getting the information that they wanted and not to annoy them with other stuff...

... and then writing individual thank you messages to volunteers, and people who made extra donations... and also those who left really nice comments on paper, socials, or emails. This is actually my favourite part of the whole post concert wrap up process... to read that we really touched people, and that they enjoyed the experience... it sort of makes everything feel like it makes a difference to people's lives... even if it is for a couple of short hours.

And then the final part... the group emails for the thank yous. We always write this to the whole mailing list, and now we have two to write.. one of the chamber groups and the other for the children's concerts. And for that we also have a shout out for other local groups as well... we do our best to support each other, not like some of the big fish who are a bit too important to help out unless they need something from us!

So... all done, and soon the preparation begins for the next one! But for now... exhausted but happy!
