Bag of Holding by Rollacrit: First Major Outing
I've had this pretty cool Bag of Holding from Rollacrit's Kickstarter for a few months now... and I have been using it quite a bit in and around locally. It has been great for everything that I have needed it for, and that includes just small local and regional trips for my electronic kit...
... but for my longer trips, I have been defaulting back to my TimBuk2 messenger bag. I guess that old habits die hard.
However, today, I'm committing to this week away with the new bag... and so far, I'm pretty impressed!
So, this is the bag with it loaded with my stuff... and the first thing that struck me was how much more roomy this bag is compared to the TimBuk2! With the old bag, I really had to squeeze everything down and in, and it really mattered how everything was arranged... but with this bag, I have room to spare!
I was worried that it would be significantly larger when loaded... but nope, it is of a similar compactness. I'm still up in the air about the design of the water bottle/map holder... it has a toggle on the top and bottom of the netting to hold the bottle, but I feel like a single opening at the top would have been more secure. That said, it is pretty damn secure, so maybe it is just a design that I need to get used to!
... and this is the main compartment area with most of my gear. A large Anker battery in the side pouch, headphones, Steam Deck and case, mouse, and large e-book. Ad there is more than enough space to spare. Now, if I had to make a guess as to why it all fits... well, the main area is just taller... and the next two compartments to the front of the bag get smaller and smaller, so there is a sort of a tiering effect that makes the bag not feel large whilst have a large enough section in the main part to house the really big stuff!
I have finally added the cross shoulder strap... I have been using the backpack straps mostly, but when I'm carrying luggage and a violin, well... it doesn't work, and so I will need the ability to carry across and to the front instead.
Speaking of straps... this has a handy clip for... something! I will probably end up attaching a bit of electronic kit here... there was a pouch for electronic stuff... maybe a Flipper Zero or something?
... and here it is... with my violin and a small backpack hanging from either shoulder, and my tech kit in the bag of holding to the front. Some snacks in the front comparment and water bottle in easy reach. This is pretty comfy so far, and I am keen to see how the canvas holds up to prolonged use and wear and tear...
... but so far, this is MUCH better than the TimBuk2! Time to empty and retire that one for local small jobs only!

Very cool! It looks like a pretty sleek looking bag!
I think I've found a decent one... I hope it is durable as well, it feels like it, but you never know until it has been bashed around for a few years!
