The grass can be greener anywhere

I came across @olujay content wth the title stay rooted and drew me to this wonderful prompt.

It got me thinking about some mistakes people have made by believing that its better somewhere and without thorough research they move and got disappointed.

Honestly almost 30% if not 50% of Nigerians has that feeling that the other side is greener but unfortunately i don't think its is so because of some personal reasons.

Unfortunately in same Nigeria some who are in the east believe that it is greener in the western part of Nigeria than the east.

The fact is that if you haven't been there you can never know if its greener or not and for you to be there, it requires much sacrifices and this leads to disappointment when you see that after all sacrifices the land is not greener infact the first land was even more greener, and its not very easy to move backwards no matter what.

I use to have same feelings few years back, i was trying my best to get a push so that i can't migrate from my country to a foreign country where i thought life is better because their currency has more value than the Nigerian currency, but something is special about me, before i make important decisions in life i take my time to do thorough research because that has helped me not to make some mistakes that will hurt me so much.

My mom will always tell us that the chicken at home is better than the antelope in the bush because you haven't seen the antelope and you are not sure if the antelope is still in the bush even if its there you don't know where exactly to find it

Life is very difficult in Nigeria, yes i agree but when you make out time to interview people who migrated you will understand a clear point, the energy they use to work over there is so much that if they had tried with such energy in Nigeria then plan their life they will definitely do better.

Over there a month house rent is a year house rent over here, money to make just hair is equivalent to two to three months house rent over here, good foods there are not affordable, here in Nigeria i can still buy just a kg of gas and buy just few units of light pending when i get another source to buy but over there its not same, you must, you must pay all your bills when due, no excuses and no reason not to pay.

You can imagine if anything happens and you can't afford those bills, can we say is still greener?

A friend of mine who left Nigeria with the mindset that is greener over there couldn't believe what her eyes saw, she didn't have the energy required to get what it takes to make the grass greener over there, i was surprised when she told me that she was coming back to Nigeria, because she couldn't do the kind of jobs that will help her pay her bills, during our conversation i came to realize that people who had office jobs over here are doing caregivers or cleaning jobs over there and they have to run some many hours at a stretch to make up with the bills.

Life is difficult in Nigeria yes i agree but people are still making progress financially, the only thing is to find out the right thing to do and do it the right way, then you will experience financial freedom no matter how hard the economy is.

My resolution.

Instead of discouraging myself with that mindset that life is greener somewhere i should put myself together and look at successful entrepreneur around to see how they were able to make the land greener for themselves in this same country that the land is not green for some people.

I believe in myself and i believe that i still have some energy in me, so i just need a little push then i will put those energy at work and definitely before i exhaust my energy i will become a better person financially, and when that little push is not coming i have to challenge myself and push myself to the top.
