Building a Simple Workspace for Better Focus
Going out for a stroll?
I don't think it suits me, to be honest. Everyone has their own way of enjoying their time, right?
Growing up as someone who tends to spend most of their time indoors, I find solace in being inside. However, it doesn't mean I don't enjoy going out; it's just that I feel most comfortable when I'm alone with my thoughts.
I'll step out if necessary or if there's a friend to tag along. Being in a crowd or public places alone feels a bit overwhelming for me. Sometimes I enjoy it, but other times it can be quite draining.
On this bright Sunday, I'm planning to tidy up my dorm room, which has been my home for about 5 or 6 years now, I think. Yep, when I get comfortable with something, it becomes quite a challenge to move away from it. This little space has become like a second home to me, after my hometown.
After doing all the laundry this morning, I'm trying to spruce up my room a bit. Also, I'm planning to set up a little workspace using whatever equipment and supplies I have.

It's not a fancy or luxurious setup, but it's my favorite spot after my bed, hehe. This new simple workspace I've put together using some old unused items. Here, I'm using a table that was supposed to be for shoes, but since I don't have many pairs, I decided to repurpose it as a laptop desk. I love having a space filled with things, which is why I'll be adorning this little table with various items.
I've dusted off my old keyboard that I haven't used for about two years. It's a bit cumbersome having an external keyboard when my laptop already has one, but I realize it's quite helpful when working at a desk.

Here I bring my little hippo friend.
To keep things interesting, I've placed some old books on the side so I can revisit them when I'm not using my laptop.
Reading books is one of my resolutions for this year, but so far, I've only managed to read a few pages a few times. By having the books right in front of me, I hope it'll encourage me to start what I've planned.

Apart from having books nearby, I've also rearranged some equipment like extension cords, trash bins, and a fan to make my workspace more comfortable. So, when I get too hot or my laptop's battery runs out, I don't have to go far to plug them in.

Before setting up this simple workspace, I actually had a better spot - a workspace with a view of blue skies and green leaves. Sounds nice, doesn't it? But, I found it really hard to concentrate there, plus there wasn't a proper desk to use. I was literally working on my bed.

By creating this simple workspace, I hope to focus more on what's in front of my laptop screen. If I'm lucky, maybe someday I'll upgrade this setup to something better.
Though it looks cramped, I still feel like something's missing here. What do you think I should add to this setup? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments; I'd love to hear them.
Have a great weekend ahead. Hope it's a fantastic one for you!
