Weekly Battle challenge - Turtle up!
Hello fellow people of Hive,
another week, another challenge. This weeks it's the Spineback Turtle, a card that recently fell out of the starter cards due to the new Chaos Legion cards.
As I don't own it, I jumped onto the rental market and got myself a turtle, level 5, because my summoners in water don't allow me to play a higher leve, but it still has the thorns for which I really like the card.
So let's get into business, I mean battle!
The rules
Low point environment, not too many points and so rules that disadvantage the turtle. My opponent used to play sneak and straight forward teams with quite a few melee monsters -> perfect for the turtle.
The lineup
Keyla Frendul - more speed and more shield, suits my strat and with level 3 I feel like he is my strongest summoner I can bring to the table for water, although I have to battle in gold.
Spineback Turtle - the star. Good tank and even gets more armor on top due to the summoner. From experience the only weekness is magic, but in every other battle it really shines.
Feasting seaweed - the opportunity with the melee damage can work around strong tanks and take out threats quite well.
Venari wavesmith - some magic damage is always helpful and the extra armor. My team is jam packed on it. It's making the turtle even stronger, but not helping out on its weakness.
Torrent fiend - 0 mana and together with all this armor and solid backline protection.
I like my team in this ruleset, although it's a bit low level for gold. Let's see what my opponent gets together to compete with me :)
The matchup
Oh look at that... A magic team with armor protection. My turtle got countered, my seaweed got countered and my backline protection will last one round.
Now the big question - am I totally countered or can the turtle succeed?
The battle
Round 1
well, well, well - This raw magic power seems like a little too much. The HP of my units is melting like butter on a lovely summer day.
Round 2
Aaaaaand it's gone... I straight up got outpicked from the get go. Maybe with a proper gold level lineup, I had a slight chance, but it is what it is. Congrats to my opponent to bringing a team I wasn't expecting at all.
Good fight, good night :)
