In our attempt to avoid a touristy place, our feet brought as to Tabogon Cebu, an isolated town up north with too many rough roads and streets that are under construction. Unfortunately we were wrong when we arrived at our main itinerary, the Guiwanon Cold spring was packed with too many visitors hence we were not allowed to gain entry. And because we traveled far for 3 hours just to go back home, we decided to explore the area.

Tabogon is a third-class municipality of the province of Cebu adjacent to San Remegio and Tabuelan. It is a coastal town with fishing and farming as its main source of livelihood. It is a sleepy town contrary to its name which means 'busy' when translated. But I love how laid-back the town is. With the sea-breeze following us as we drive the coastal road looking for available resort. Guiwanon Cold Spring is their main tourist attraction, they also have a scenic hillside dubbed as Little Batanes, and plenty of seaside accommodation.

Sea Turtle Lagoon Resort

After 20 minutes of driving, we finally arrived at the resort. Fortunately waze was helpful this time after a series of epic fail directions from our previous roadtrips. The resort is called, Sea Turtle Lagoon, it is 2 kilometers from the town center and can be reach by tricylce or habal2 (motorcycle) if you will be commuting. It is situated in a rocky cliff with little huts like mushrooms overlooking the sea. The huts are intended for day-use although they also have rooms good for 2 or 4 people if you want to stay overnight. I would not recommend the resort for older folks that has mobility issue as the resort has 'slopy' landscape which could be taxing when moving to different spots like restroom and whatnot.

But the resort is perfect for chilling on weekends with friends after a hard long day of work. The cottage can accommodate 5 to 8 people with access to water for dipping or swimming. Please note that there's no shoreline and white sands just sharp rock edges. There is a platform intended for swimming and diving. It is also perfect for snorkeling and freediving. The resort entrance fee per person at that time was P100 and the cottage was P600. The room rate was P2500 good for 2 person.

How to get there;

If you are coming from Cebu City, you can take a bus from Northbus terminal going to Bogo. Make sure to take the bus tagged as Tabogon-Bogo as there are bus route to Bogo that will take a different intersection. The fare may range from P130 to P160. From Tabogon drop-off area, there are tricycle or motorcycle that you can rent to different tourist spots in Tabogon. The price will depend on your haggling skill.

Over all the resort offered the best accomodation in the area but if Im going to rate it from 1 to 10 as 1 being the highest, I will give it a 3. It offered the best alternative but I think it can improve more. I think we expected more than what it can offer. And there were no turtles by the way.
