The Canadian Coffee Brand that is Tim Hortons!
Okay, I am going to get this straight, I am not a coffee connoisseur or anything expert about humanity's anti-sleep beverage that is coffee. I drink coffee because I just want to make it through the day or get my shift over without having to hit the keyboard with my face, if you know what I mean.
Who does not love coffee anyways? In fact my previous company pantry was full of them brewing in every corner, not to mention the vendo for instant coffee. And if you find the packed 3-in-1 coffee more appealing, the concessionaires have them ready for just 10 cents.
Of course, I will not be discussing that in this post as that is not what my title talks about. And by the way, this is my first time posting in this community, although I don't like my coffee sprinkled with cinnamon. But that would be another story.
So back to the topic. A few weeks ago, we were able to hit the road up north with my college buddies. The trip was 2 years in the making because of covid. We stayed with my college friend in Cavite and the plan was to travel to the northest part of the country which is Pagudpod. And we will just stay overnight in between towns and try the local delicacies along the way. We left the place early in the morning to avoid traffic only to get stuck in EDSA as early as 4 am. We catch the morning sun in Apalit, Pampanga via NLEX (expressway), and stop over Total. Where Tim Horton's and other resto and coffee shops are conveniently located for motorists and travelers.
There were a lot of shops to choose from but we picked Tim Hortons because the Canadian coffee brand is not available yet in Cebu. And the red logo is shouting from a distance with the shop's brown facade similar to their original store in Canada. They have quite a few rounds in social media too and that adds up to the interest. But the big question is, will it meet our expectations?
As we entered, we were greeted by their iconic "Welcome to Canada" with a Canada maple symbol.
And before you get drawn by the aroma of freshly brewed coffee, you will get to enjoy the beautiful interiors first. It was very spacious and there were a lot of areas to enjoy yourself without getting bugged by other customers. Perfect for quick meetings, or if you are working anywhere as they have a stable internet connection.
After several minutes of enjoying the interiors and smelling the aroma of arabica we then checked the counter full of bagels, doughnuts and colorful pastries. We ordered their famous bagels spread in cream cheese, original glazed donuts, and signature coffees. While waiting for the barista to call our names, we explore the surrounding area. And we were not planning of dining-in that day as it was not part of the itinerary.
As soon as we heard our order was ready to pick up, we then took one final photo of the shop and hit the road. So, we tried their donuts and bagels inside the car on our way to our next destination. And it was delicious. Not sure if that is how Canadian prepares their bagels and donuts but boy it tastes good. And the coffee? Unfortunately, it was nothing extraordinary. I probably expected a lot. Just your similar arabica concoction you can find at Starbucks. And they do not proactively offer creamer, stirrer, and sugar; so, if you find these options necessary, you may ask for these in advance. Overall, it was a unique experience and something distinctive as Tim Hortons.
Thank you for reaching all the way here. Have you tried Tim Hortons signature coffee lately? How was it?
I wanted to try their coffee tbh 🤗

Ah Tim Hortons. As a Canadian, I know it very well. It's a major chain in the country - probably the most popular. It's been bought and sold so many times over the past few decades from multi-national investors though that I don’t think that it could even be called Canadian at this point. The quality has gone way down hill over the years as well and is essentially just cheap quality products that are very inconsistent.
Let me enlighten you haha. The donuts are made off site in a large factory and then flash frozen. They arrive to the location in large clear plastic bags. They are put in the oven for a few minutes to thaw and heat up and then they are hand dipped by staff.
They basically make the coffee how you want it but you have to know the lingo when you order.
If you ask for a "coffee" it will come black.
If you ask for a "regular coffee" it comes with 1 cream and 1 sugar.
A "double double" is 2 cream 2 sugar.
Some people do a "triple triple" which is 3 cream 3 sugar 😆
Everything else you basically have to explain. Ex "I'll have a coffee with 1 cream Or, you might ask for a coffee with 1 sugar and 2 cream... you get the idea.
Thanks for the info. Learn something new today. I sucks at ordering coffee lol so i always go for the signature if it is my first time. But I enjoyed the coffee and that what matters. Cheers.
I see. I haven't been to Tim's in a few years now because I'm out of the country but I think the signature is their standard coffee blend. They added a dark roast a while back but I don't know how successful it was or if they still have it. All the espresso, machiatos, cappuccino, Americano...ect is all new in the past few years. I think they added them to compete with Starbucks.

Me. hahahahaha I have a love and hate relationship with coffee. Sometimes it depends on where I am or what I'm doing to get coffee. ahhaha
I know of someone who doesnt like coffee but i did not expect it coming from you hehe. You post a lot of coffee topic before .
hahhaha. I'm now doing my best not to get much coffee these days. I used to drink a lot of coffee and matcha as well but for now, I am changing. hehehe
I am not so into coffee. I mean it's bitter. 😂
But I have heard about Tim Hortons. My friend who's in Manila was bragging about it to me and yes, it's not in Cebu when I was still living there so I could totally relate to what you felt.
Sadly, up to this day I still haven't tried their coffee.
oooh, nothing extraordinary .. maybe it depends on the person? not sure though hehe
Yea, you are right, it just prolly me. But their coffee taste good tho. Thanks for dropping.
I don't find these things (sugar, stirrer, and creamer) necessary when buying coffee in a shop, though. I love it black and savour every bitterness it has. 😆 I never heard of Tim Hortons before, maybe because we doesn't have that in our place, we just Tom & Toms.
Is Toms coffee a korean brand? I went there at Mactan and im loving the vibes specially the sunset view of mactan sea. Would love to go back .
I don't know, sorry. I never been there yet, though it's just near my place. 😆
I haven't tried it yet, but I would like to know the experience of flavors from other countries, by the way the desserts look irresistible :D
I have not tried most of them but their original glazed donuts is a must try. Thanks for dropping.
