Life Lessons: There's No Harm In…

avatar

I don't have regrets, there are only lessons. You learn from them, and you become a better person.

Age doesn't matter when it comes to life lessons. You will be surprised to hear a six-year-old saying he/she has some regrets in life and it will make you wonder;

"How's that possible? He/She is still a child. They are not supposed to have known that part of life, right?"

Well, lots of things are possible in this modern world as things have changed drastically. What you think is not possible has a lot of possibilities attached to it.

Life hasn't been fair to anyone but if it has been fair to you, please signify. I have lived life and am still living as I am still alive. And, I have had lots of life lessons but I do not regret having any as they taught me.

I have always been the type that prefers minding my business and this makes some people think I am mute. I can stay in a room full of people and not utter a word but that doesn't mean I don't talk, I do. And, this has helped me more than I can remember. Though, I have heard words like;

"Your attitude of always minding your business will make you lose some important people you are supposed to converse with. Learn to be free."

Did I listen? Nah. That's because I am a free person but, only to people I am comfortable having around. You can call it stubbornness or any other words that suits you but, I was brought up in that way and lived with it. It is not that I can't change it but I will rather not because minding my business has saved me lots of bullshit in places I have found myself.

People I have met with give me that regard knowing the kind of person I am. Truth be told, I am an incredibly lengthy talker. Lol. But, I prefer listening too and this has helped me grow in life.

I once worked in a media organization where a new secretary was brought in after the old one got married. Everybody welcomed her except me, I never knew why but later got to know why when she later put everyone in trouble except me. That was because I never spoke with her ever since she came in. I ignored her and that was because of her attitude, they didn't align well with me and I knew there was no need to create a bond with such a person.

Yes, I know no one is perfect. I am an imperfect being also, but there are some attitudes that I can never relate with and that has saved me many times.

She got some people sacked from the office and everyone later got to dislike her. They don't take things from her anymore and minded their businesses where she is involved. And that was how things were until she left.

I don't have the best attitude but I respect the ones I have and I have no regrets having them.

There are people we cannot really align with. It's not because of pride or ego, or maybe loathing, it's just that their life, or way of life might never be in synch with us.

Many see it as pride. I have been given that look a lot and I have heard words that tallies with it. But, I do not care.

I hope people get to understand that you can't just pretend to like people. Make it real or don't do it.

Politicians are the only ones who find fun in it.

Politicians are the only ones who find fun in it..
They have a lot to gain than lose, people pretend a lot when there's a lot at stake.

It's good to know you listen more than you talk, perhaps the world needs more of that. Thank you for sharing and good you didn't involve yourself with that secretary

Truly listening is more important that talking.. for if we listen (with our hearts), then our actions speak louder than words.

That's my thoughts anyway. Thanks for the interesting post.

You see, it isn't everything one jumps into just because you can talk.... just like you, you are always at a boundary of when to talk and not to. When to mind one's business and not. That is how things should be. You see, having self-control is the best. Just like how the Bible puts it: One who lacks self-control is like a city wall that is broken down. What do you think would happen? Let loose and in the end, be in trouble.

It's fascinating to read about your perspective on life and how you've chosen to navigate it. Your approach of minding your own business and being selective about the people you engage with clearly has its merits. It's a testament to the fact that there's no one-size-fits-all approach to life, and what works best for one person might not necessarily work for another. Your ability to listen and observe has undoubtedly given you unique insights and helped you avoid unnecessary complications.

That's just right. What works for one might not necessarily work for another.
