A special type of needlework . Hand made DIY of a wig

avatar

Hello Hive

It's my third post on hive and I thought to explore and see what this community is about.
Am into hair dressing and just maybe a portion of my work involves that I make use of needles and hope this is welcome in the community .

Today I made a diy of a wig
It comprises of getting artificial weavons but instead of styling it into ones hair , we stitch it into a ready made cap which can hence be used as a wig for a long time

It can get tiring when one fixed weavons but wigs are temporal such that you can remove them at any time to receive fresh hair

Using a head mannequin I wore the cap into the head and started stictching the weavon using needle and threads .

This is easy and fun to do and it's so much cheaper to make your own wig compared to the expensive ready made ones in the market.

The only challenging part is how to sew in the closture which makes ones work neat with good finishing.
But practice makes perfect and with time I will get good with that .

That's is my new wig nicely made.
Thanks for reading .

Hi @ayomiku! Welcome to the NeedleWorkMonday Community!

I am very familiar with this type of needlework. My mother-in-law is also a beautician and she specializes in this type of wig making. Some of her clients have alopecia and she customizes their wigs for them. I’ve seen her in action and it’s quite a task to do but amazing work. I love how her clients leave feeling more confident and beautiful.

I see that @monica-ene is your sister! She is loved in this community and we admire her work and her heartfelt publications. I’m so glad she invited you to Hive. This type of needlework is welcome here and I look forward to seeing more of your work. The wig you finished looks beautiful!!

Every week needleworkers from around the globe get together to share our work, patterns, tips, ideas and shortcuts as we support one another. Our goal is to inspire the Hive blockchain to give crafting a try.

On Monday’s we use the #needleworkmonday tag and on all other days we use the #needlework tag without the word Monday attached. We share and post our work directly from the Community page.

We encourage our members to share about their needlework life with us. We love hearing stories and what types of things inspired your projects. We challenge you to put some feeling and emotion into your publications and help us get to know the needler behind the fabric.

Feel free to share photos of your work but it’s optional if you choose to share the steps with us (we do require you share the step process in at least one of your posts for validation purposes). If you just want to needle and share about that time we’d love to hear about it. 😊

For more information about what we do and for our posting guidelines please visit our FAQs.

Thank you ~
