Travel and Holiday Food- Ladies of Hive Community Contest #62

Gracias a esta grandiosa iniciativa creada por @justclickindiva de la comunidad de #ladiesofhive, puedo contarles un poco de cómo han sido mis Navidades, a pesar de las adversidades, puedo decirles que lo más importante es la unión familiar, esto no tiene precio. Ver la sonrisa en cada uno de los miembros de mi familia, concentradas en un mismo lugar, contando anécdotas, los niños saltando de emoción, estos momentos llena mi corazón. Es la magia de la Navidad.

Comenzaré con responder las siguientes preguntas:

1️⃣ ¿Te gusta viajar durante las vacaciones o quedarte cerca de casa?

Claro que me encantaría viajar en todas la navidades, mi foto principal habla por si sola 🤣😎👙, este fue un viaje que emprendimos para Isla de Coche, Estado Nueva Esparta en Venezuela. Fue una semana de disfrute, comidas, paseo y felicidad, es rico conocer distintos lugares, les puedo decir que aqui en Venezuela contamos con hermosos sitios turísticos para el disfrute familiar, amo viajar para las Playas del Estado Falcón al noroeste de Venezuela , y tener ese contacto con el mar, la arena, el sol. Por supuesto que existen momentos en los cuales no hemos logrado emprender viajes en esta época.

Sin embargo, soy de las que pienso que, si mi familia está feliz, yo lo estoy también, la unión familiar, hace que nuestros sentimientos crezcan, hay que cultivar el amor, regarlo a diario, en Navidad lo queremos hacer de manera mágica, colocamos unos Elfos debajo de árbol lleno de caramelo para nuestra hija. La navidad, la pasamos en mi nuevo apartamento vaya que regalo por parte de mi esposo, tuve la oportunidad de conocer a @jomarbym sus hermosos hijos Mathius e Ethan, a su mamá la Sra. Betty , también a @charsdesign y @tibaire, disfrutamos de una rica cena navideña. A pesar del frio que hacia compartimos momentos increíbles de mucha conversa, brindis, comidas ricas.

2️⃣ ¿Cuál es tu comida navideña favorita y por qué?

Esta es una tradición que no podemos pasar por alto, las hallacas, alguna vez han probado las hallacas de caraota?, pues con la familia por parte de mi esposo las probé y son exquisitas, son las primeras que sacamos de la olla los 24, pero por supuesto que no puede faltar la hallaca de carne, pollo y cochino, algunas personas le agregan un toque especial, por ejemplo mi abuela le gustaba añadir en el relleno huevo sancochado, como cosas de niños, le decía que me la prepararan sin alcaparra ni pasas. Ya después que crecí, como parte de la tradición empecé a conocer distintos ingredientes, algunos le agregan garbanzo o papa.

Las hallacas caraqueñas son sin dudas las mejores tienen carne, pollo cochino, todos aderezados con orégano, sal, ajo, pimiento, cebolla, pimentón, les da un toque especial. En nuestro caso primero sancochamos la carne y el cochino, por ultimo incorporamos el pollo, aparte sofreímos los aliños y lo incorporamos al guiso, para darle un poco de color utilizamos onoto.

Luego viene la segunda parte que es preparar una masa con harina pan y onoto, expandimos pequeñas bolas en las hojas de plátano, agregamos el guiso de carne, aceitunas, pasas, alcaparras, tira de cebolla, tira de pimentón, una rodaja de papa sancochada, cerramos y amarramos bien fuerte. Finalmente cocinamos por dos horas aproximadamente y degustamos.

Es mas rico si lo acompañamos con pernil de cochino ó asado negro, también la famosa ensaladas de gallina que lleva papa, zanahoria, pollo o gallina, guisantes y manzana, adornamos con perejil.

Son momentos inolvidables, pasan una vez al año, así que aprovechamos al máximo esta fecha para compartir, bailar, cantar, brincar.

Thanks to this great initiative created by @justclickindiva from the #ladiesofhive community, I can tell you a little of how my Christmas has been, despite the adversities, I can tell you that the most important thing is family togetherness, this is priceless. Seeing the smile on each one of the members of my family, concentrated in the same place, telling anecdotes, the children jumping with excitement, these moments fill my heart. It is the magic of Christmas.

I will begin by answering the following questions:

1️⃣ Do you like to travel during the holidays, or stay close to home?

Of course I would love to travel in every Christmas, my main photo speaks for itself 🤣😎👙, this was a trip we undertook to Isla de Coche, Nueva Esparta State in Venezuela. It was a week of enjoyment, meals, walk and happiness, it is rich to know different places, I can tell you that here in Venezuela we have beautiful tourist sites for family enjoyment, I love to travel to the beaches of Falcon State northwest of Venezuela, and have that contact with the sea, the sand, the sun. Of course there are times when we have not been able to travel at this time of the year.

However, I am one of those who think that if my family is happy, I am happy too, family togetherness, makes our feelings grow, we must cultivate love, water it daily, at Christmas we want to do it in a magical way, we put some elves under the tree full of candy for our daughter. Christmas, we spent it in my new apartment, what a gift from my husband, I had the opportunity to meet @jomarbym his beautiful sons Mathius and Ethan, his mom Mrs. Betty, also @charsdesign and @tibaire, we enjoyed a nice Christmas dinner. Despite the cold weather we shared incredible moments of great conversation, toasts and delicious food.

2️⃣ What is your favorite holiday food, and why?

This is a tradition that we can not overlook, the hallacas, have you ever tried the hallacas of caraota, well with the family on my husband's side I tried them and they are exquisite, they are the first ones we take out of the pot on the 24th, but of course you can not miss the hallaca of meat, chicken and pork, some people add a special touch, for example my grandmother liked to add boiled egg in the filling, as children's things, I told her to prepare it without capers or raisins. After I grew up, as part of the tradition I started to learn about different ingredients, some people add chickpeas or potatoes.

The hallaca caraqueñas are undoubtedly the best, they have meat, chicken, pork, all seasoned with oregano, salt, garlic, bell pepper, onion, paprika, it gives them a special touch. In our case we first boil the meat and the pork, finally we add the chicken, then we fry the seasoning and add it to the stew, to give it a little color we use onoto.

Then comes the second part which is to prepare a dough with flour bread and onoto, expand small balls in the banana leaves, add the meat stew, olives, raisins, capers, strip of onion, strip of paprika, a slice of boiled potato, close and tie tightly. Finally we cook for approximately two hours and taste.

It is more delicious if we accompany it with pork leg or black roast, also the famous chicken salad with potatoes, carrots, chicken or hen, peas and apples, garnished with parsley.

These are unforgettable moments, they happen once a year, so we make the most of this date to share, dance, sing, jump.
