NOT READY TO BE TIED DOWN BY MARRIAGE
Jacob was from a small town and used to be one of the best students all through the period when Jacob was still in school. However, at the end of graduation, he didn't have any idea of what he wanted to do with his life. After college it was hard to stay at home because most of his classmates decided to get ready for an MBA and join the coaching classes, So, he did the same as well. It was in the coaching place that Jacob met this beautiful girl.
Jacob had never had a serious relationship before though he had chances as he always thought that the girl that he fall in love with will eventually become my life. Initially, the girl was one of the girls in his class. However, he wasn't into her rather he just was trying to get to know another girl. Adeola was reciprocating and he was very happy about it. He used to get angry that Derby in one way or the other always used to find a seat beside him depriving him of an opportunity to sit beside Adeola.
On a particular day, as usual, Adeola was sitting in the front row and she had an empty seat beside her. Then, she called Jacob and he was prepared to move when instinctively he happened to look into Derby's eyes and she appeared to be hurt. Do not know what occurs but Jacob didn't change my seat. A certain day, there was street fighting in a part of the city and they were encouraged to leave for our homes lest it spread. There was one girl who reside towards Jacob's house and he promised to give her a lift on his bike. He dutifully did that and then suddenly a thought dropped in his heart that how did Derby go back home. It was weird why he wasn't thinking of Adeola at that moment.
He instantly went back which was about a 15 km ride back to the coaching center. Everyone had left but he still thought maybe Derby would by chance be there. He ran upstairs and was surprised to see her sitting there. He sat beside her and wanted to know why she didn't leave. She told him that she just wanted to know if Jacob will come back for her. From then on we accepted that we had feelings for each other.
Then, another thing occurred which brought them even more closer. One day, Jacob was on his way to coaching, he met with an accident. His bike slips and he fell. Ha was injured on his knees. Jacob still didn't want to miss out on any day wherein he could meet Derby but didn't. He got to the coaching venue only to be told by his companions that his jeans were torn and he was bleeding from there. In the aftershock of the accident, he didn't notice that. Because there was going to be a test that particular day, so everyone was busy reading and he had one to come forward to take him to a clinic for the normal tetanus injection and dressing up of wounds. Derby didn't only convince me to get his wounds dressed but followed him to the clinic out of a lot of his so-called friends. He instantly knew that she was the one for me.
However, after five years of relationship. Though most of it was long-distance and he also moved out of the town to further his education and then got a job too away from home. Derby broke up with him. Jacob blames himself for the whole loss. He wasn't ready to be tied down by marriage so early in my career. By the time he discovered his mistake, she chose to move on and she got married.
One of the few times that she picked up she got to know that I had not had anything to eat since the morning. She had persuaded him to go to the nearest restaurant and have something to eat. That was their last phone conversation. She never called after that neither did Jacob ever try to call her again. Derby promised that she will marry Jacob if there is anything like another life.
This is a sad, but very human tale. It is probably true that every adult looks back on life and contemplates missed opportunities. The end is realistic. Many people say of their choices, "If I had another life..." However, we don't. We have the one life to make choices and have regrets. You convey that message well here.
