The Palm Grove of Surprises is a place dedicated to leisure, but mixes nature with architecture, a place where you can enjoy outdoors art, gardens, sea view, the port and a lot of services of hospitality and recreation.

20230912_145017.jpg

It is a place of recreation within what is considered the port area.
It took more than four years to complete, finishing in 2011.

It is located right next to quay 2 of the port. Previously there were the typical silos, but since its inauguration it consists of numerous areas of vegetation where what prevails are the palm trees, hence its name.

20230912_145021.jpg

It covers an area of more than 20,000 square metres and in addition to the green spaces, there are playgrounds for children, benches or seats of all kinds with unique styles.

The views of the Mediterranean Sea and the many cruise ships arriving in the port are magnificent.

20230912_145301.jpg

In general, this place dedicated to nature and leisure is surrounded by emblematic sites such as the city park, the historic centre and many other gardens.

20230912_145146.jpg

Although it is a place for recreation and leisure, there are rules to comply with as it is part of the port area, such as the restricted use of bicycles to a specific area, and there is also a glass wall separating the palm grove from the place that is considered a boat landing. No access or bathing is allowed there.

The palm grove is the one that connects the urban part with the sea, creating a unique and elegant architectural environment. The idea was born out of the growing importance of tourism in the 1990s.

That is why this singular space was created, which attracts a lot of attention and is a classic promenade for all the tourists who pass through the city at all times of the year.

One of the main features of the park are the palm pergolas and their symmetrical and harmonious arrangement. This park consists of more than 400 palm trees, creating a zigzagging pergola and together with the various shrubs it has more than 7000 different types of vegetation.

This also creates a microclimate, in addition to the aesthetics of each part of the route.

20230912_145856.jpg

Each space also has its own garden, each with a different style, with different furniture and plantings. The colours, flowers and shrubs are varied, creating different atmospheres in each sector.

In this park there is plenty of shade, provided by the pergola of palm trees, and places to rest and admire the landscape, specially prepared for tourism.

The architects designed all this in perfect alignment with the pier, an impressive geometry.

There is no shortage of flower beds, children's playgrounds and architectural style.

20230912_150837.jpg

One of the things that catches the eye is the design of certain areas to sit, read a book or just be there.

Inside the palm grove we can find the Andalusian cybersecurity centre in a building between two gardens.

There is also the Classroom of the Sea Museum, set in a translucent glass box perpendicular to the pier, with many posters promoting it.

Each of these buildings is surrounded by gardens and a view of the sea, where you can often see ships of different styles.

There you can see the port terminals and access to certain cruise ships and during the tour, you can see many bars and restaurants.

Many times you can see shows, such as tango dancing couples, acrobatics, street artists, singers, painters, among others.

There is also a children's play area, very different from those found in the rest of the city, built with wood and very large extensions.

20230912_151034.jpg

This place is a great architectural and landscape promenade, worthy of being visited and admired, a place of great views and that allows relaxation.

A great place to take a stroll and enjoy nature together with good taste in its designs.

I hope you liked this beautiful space, best regards to all of you and see you next time.

Wow my friend, when I thought you could no longer surprise me with your photos, you bring us this beauty 😍

How picturesque are the palm trees, one of the most beautiful trees that exist and wherever they are planted, they give a decorative and beach touch to any place, I love them! ❤️

These are undoubtedly one of the best photos you have shared ❤️
