Fictional character | Personaje de ficción | Contest #53 LadiesofHive
TO THE 53rd EDITION of the
LADIES OF HIVE COMMUNITY CONTEST
I am very happy to be back in this enthusiastic community C/Ladies of Hive of strong, determined and creative women. This time supporting the 53rd edition of the weekly contest that as always raises questions that incite us to self-analysis and self-knowledge, in addition to promoting interaction between girls in this common place that we all have in Hive.
If you want to know about this initiative, click on this link and share with us about one of the questions of the week, or why not, about both! 😊
I must say that I could have gone on for a long time commenting on question No. 1, since, unfortunately in my country we eventually and to a greater or lesser extent, depending on where we are, suffer from the lack of one or both services (water and/or electricity) and we have had to reinvent ourselves to cope with the situation through patience and resilience. But, I like to write about more stimulating and inspiring things, so I chose to discern a little about question Nr 2.
Which fictional character would you like to meet and why?
When I read the question the character of Enola Holmes immediately came to mind, those who have seen the movie will understand me.
Enola Holmes is a movie I saw this year and is based on the book series The Adventures of Enola Holmes written by Nancy Springer.
In the movie we are shown the youngest of the Holmes siblings, who ventures into the search for her mother who disappears "without a trace" before her 16th birthday, displaying detective skills that impress the great and legendary Sherlock Holmes.
Enola Holmes is a character of strength, hopefulness, empowered at a time when the female revelation was just incipient.
Enola grew up with her mother, who trained her to be a free, capable and independent woman.
The story unfolds simultaneously with the suffragette movement, which sought to guarantee the right to vote for all women.
In the course of the plot, not to make spoilers, Enola's struggle underlies a real story of freedom and hope, highlighting the achievements that women can reach when we organize and support each other in unity.
What qualities does Enola Holmes have that I consider significant?
- The complicity with her mother:
Enola has a very special relationship with her mother, they transmit very nice energy, love and complicity. In my case, it is a point that moves my emotionality, because I lost my mother as a child, and I would have loved to have such a great relationship as an adult. The good news is that I can and am actually building it with my daughter 😃.
Elona's mother taught her to stand up for herself and fight, not only for her physical integrity, but also for her ideas. Being strong, standing up for herself, always being authentic were several of the values she passed on to her by exemplifying them herself.
- To take control of our lives:
She was always encouraged to fulfill her purpose, to stand up for her authenticity and to choose her own path, not the one dictated by others. A lesson that I think is very valuable in a world where many times, in order to fit in, we lose our essence and become who we are not.
- To be authentic:
She was judged by some of her brothers for not being educated according to the conventions of the time, she defended herself by saying that she had read the entire library at home. She rode a bicycle, did not like the pompous dresses of society ladies. However, just for strategies in her research, she wore a different type of clothing than what she liked to wear.
- Fighting for what she felt was right:.
Although her mother taught her that she should help and protect the helpless as long as it did not involve danger to herself, Enola followed her instinct, bravely facing a series of eventualities in order to save those she considered helpless or lacking the strength she had to spare.
- Healthy detachment.
This point is important, she learned to be alone, and not in the sense of exclusion or lack of company, but rather, she independently began to carve her own path.
"There are two paths you can take, yours and the one others choose for you." Eudoria Holmes

Eudoria Holmes

It's tough to be without water or electricity and that it is common in parts of the world in this day and age is sad.
Now, Enola Holmes, I loved that movie. And Millie Bobbie Brown did such a great job in that role too.
I would love to meet her too :D

You received 5 LADY(LOH) tokens for entering the Ladies of Hive contest.
Please note that since our LOH token is still so new, that it will be worth more if we HOLD them for a bit before trying to sell them. Some have been trying to sell them immediately after receiving them, but holding them for a bit will help them to increase in value! We are working behind-the-scenes to try to keep the price stable, but the "sell orders" are hampering the stabilization of the price of this new token. Please hold on to your tokens. Thank you! 🙂
