Prague with my eyes - Saturday morning in the Old Town

How can I describe a beautiful, historic city I know so little? I barely scratched the surface, looked only at the facades... I know there is something more, something you can't get to know during a weekend visit.

It was a chaotic trip. New reality always overwhelms me - I don't know how to find my way around. New impressions attack from all sides and distract. I then act emotionally - plans, routes, and ideas go awry. But thanks to the photos, I manage to put all impressions together into one story.

With less than three days at my disposal, I chose the places most popular and besieged by tourists - The Old Town, Hradčany, Petřín, Vyšehrad... I supplemented my impressions by looking at the townhouses passed along the way and taking not so obvious routes.

I arrived in Prague on Friday afternoon. During an evening walk, I got a little accustomed to my new surroundings. So on Saturday morning, I left the hotel slightly more confident and set off toward the Old Town. Feel free to take a walk :)

Old streetcars are cool! In Prague, such vehicals go around established routes with monuments - you can buy a ticket for the whole day. I planned to use this option on Sunday.

Some townhouses in the city center are similar to Krakow's with one caveat - they are at least one/two floors higher.

The day quickly cleared up, and the sun was starting to shine.

We are approaching the Old Town Square - the crowd is getting denser.

On the left is the tower of the City Hall with the famous astronomical clock, and in the background you can see the Gothic Church of Mother of God before Týn.

I decided that I wouldn't tour the interiors, so I could see more places.

In the middle of the square we find a monument in honor of John Hus. He was Czech theologian and philosopher burned by the Catholic Church in the 15th century for demanding religious reforms - including mass in the native language. He was a forerunner of the Reformation.

As you can see, this place inspires :)

By complete coincidence, I arrived at the square just before the 10 o'clock struck, and I could watch the spectacle involving the astronomical clock. The clock is beautiful and so precisely made that you can't take your eyes off the details. It's hard to believe that it's already 600 years old!

I didn't take photos during the show, preferring to focus on watching. The bells started ring, and the figures of the apostles moved in the windows above the clock.

The entire City Hall building is full of details - the longer you look, the more you notice. I thought I would never leave there.

I look at the world mainly through details, so that Saturday, I was both delighted and overhelmed.

From the Old Time Square I walked in the direction of Hradčany. I crossed the river by the Mánes Bridge; it wasn't so crowded like the neighboring Charles Bridge.

I once mentioned that I was to Prague a long time ago; on a school trip. I recently searched through old albums and found some photos from that trip. They are all poor quality; no one would keep such pictures today. But at that time, they were treasures :)

It is what the Charles Bridge looked like in the spring of '92. I still can't believe that time passes so quickly!

To Hradčany, I will take you another time, enough pictures for today :)
