Mandarin duck and Marshal's Cadillac - goodbye to Royal Baths Park.
A busy couple of weeks are behind me; hopefully, I can get back to blogging. It's strange, but I only discovered Power Up Day a few days ago! I finally managed to get my first badge, and now I'm going to collect them regularly :) I need to be more attentive to actions like this because, after all, I'm part of the hive!
Returns are challenging, so today, I won't write too much; it will be a photo post. Last time I wrote about Lazienki Park in Warsaw, and today we will walk around it a bit more.
As I mentioned before, it's a large park in the city center, with lots of alleys and historical corners. I had only two hours because I was going back to Cracow by train the same day, so my walk was chaotic. I visited only a few places, including the Palace on the Water, which I showed in my previous post - I spent most of the time there.
Another interesting place was the Chinese Garden, a colorful accent among the greenery. There weren't many flowers in the park yet a month ago, so the oriental buildings were eye-catching.
I was lucky to see the mandarin duck walking by the pond. In Poland, they are bred only for decoration; they don't live here in natural conditions, so I saw this species live for the first time.
The pigeons looked on with envy 😉
I did the rest of the walk in a hurry, really wishing I had more time. I guess the park is full of flowers now; they were just starting to bloom in late April.
The Old Orangery - I wish to see the garden now!
The Frederic Chopin Monument.
Monument to Marshal Piłsudski, an important figure in Polish history - a soldier, politician, and independence activist. He died in 1935.
The Marshal's last car - Cadillac 355 - was purchased in 1934 and was specially adapted to its function - it has 5 cm thick bulletproof windows and an armored passenger compartment, which makes it weigh as much as 3.5 tons. Eight years ago, it was fully restored. I would love to take this car for a ride ;)
I don't know why, but when I think about it, I hear a Will Smith song - Just Cruisin' 😅
The Belvedere Palace - the seat of the Polish state's head from 1918 to 1993.
Here I finished my walk and went towards the train station. I was sorry to leave, but I knew I would come back 💚.
