On Being 1% Better Each Day

I was just listening to this audio book that talks about utilizing discipline to become a better version of yourself. Discipline lives at the core of who we are. If you lack discipline, then you lack a good life.

Discipline is not always what people make out it to be. I think a lot of people consider discipline to be something that is a "grit your teeth and just fcking do it type of characteristic.

That's not always true.

Who has discipline?

Looking at who has discipline will teach you a lot about how discipline works. What I mean when I say discipline can often refer to even the most "dainty" of activities.

A writer who never leaves the house can have discipline.

A gym rat who goes to the gym at 2PM every day like clock work can have discipline.

A blogger on Hive can have discipline.

A threader on LeoFinance can have discipline.

Discipline is all around us, the question is: how do you apply it to your own life?

On Being 1% Better Each Day

If you are just 1% better today than you were yesterday, would you call it a successful day?

I think the answer to this question is a resounding yes. There is nobody here that wouldn't feel more successful if they improved by 1%. Improving yourself by 1% is a massive undertaking. Let's not mince words: it takes discipline to become 1% better each day.

Some days you my wake up and "not feel like it"... Some days you might not want to sit at the keyboard to write. Some days you may not want to go to the gym.

But you know what? You CAN. You are capable of it. So why are you shorting your own potential?

This is not to say that you can never take a day off. Instead, focus on being 1% better. Just be better than you were yesterday. Run that extra lap. Write that extra line. Eat that healthier food option.

Life is better when you're disciplined.

My name is Asteroids - well, that's my Hive name, anyways. I believe firmly in the future of Web3 technology and its potential to reshape our lives. I'm a serial entrepreneur and my aim in life is to always evolve and find new ways to leverage technology in my life.

As I continue to build things, I find new and important wisdom in all sorts of places. My goal here on Hive is simply to share that wisdom so that you can improve as well.

Working is as much about building good habits as it is about doing the actual work. Remembering this on a daily basis has changed my life for the better.

Until next time,
