DHANTERAS - The Festival of Wealth and Prosperity

Dhanteras is basically the festival of Wealth and Prosperity and this day is considered to be super lucky and there are certain items that you need to buy in this Auspicious Day so that you gain blessings of prosperity for the rest of the year. On this day people tend to buy things or items made out of Brass, Silver or Gold as they believe that it will bring Good Fortune, Success and protection from all things Evil.

As I said above that people tend to buy Brass, Silver and Gold items in this Auspicious day but there are some other items as well that people buy and consider them Auspicious. It is considered that buying a motor vehicle, House, any gadget and many more are Auspicious in Dhanteras. These are some things that I knew about but this year I found out about another substance which people buy during Dhanteras and I was quite surprised when I knew about it.

It's Coriander Seeds

I work in the Agriculture Sector so I visit shops that keep various Vegetable Seeds and on the day of Dhanteras I was shocked to see several people buying Coriander Seeds, upon asking why they were buying it I got the response that it was Auspicious to buy Coriander seeds in Dhanteras. This vague explanation was simply not good enough for me so I asked around and found out that people consider buying Coriander Seeds on Dhanteras as Auspicious and on the next morning they offer those seeds to the God and then plant some of those seeds to grow as that signifies growth and prosperity.

I always say this to people that there is no limit to what you can learn and no limit as to when you learn it so I am grateful that I learnt something new at the Auspicious Occasion of Dhanteras.
