Pulled in Different Directions

These past few weeks have been beyond crazy...first the terrible floods and no water for two whole weeks, having to bathing like a "Cow Boy" in the wash hand basin, or rush off to relatives in other suburbs to shower and top up water bottles.

It's like we've been living in a bad dream...people standing in queues to buy water and the shops running out.
The farm we were getting water from decided to close it's gates to the public, as the dirt road to the bore hole had been damaged by the traffic driving through...so that was the first "bummer".

I must say though...we had some very innovative ideas when it came to showering. Hubby and I would take turns in holding the bucket over each other while we did what we had to do....hilarious at times...what can one do... but laugh...I mean...life has it's moments doesn't it, Hehe!.

Sadly, some people have to live like that all their lives, so I'm grateful for the water we could get.
In this whole situation, I think we've been taught humility, it has definitely been a humbling experience for me.

Then we had load shedding (no electricity).
I had previously rolled up the carpet in the lounge because of the rain...that's when I decided to practice my backward flips in the dark, landing on my butt and hitting my head against the wall...Omg!... still feeling the pain after a week.
.
No!, the drama didn't stop there, I mean, I feel like I'm under some kind of curse.. (WTF!)...(Sh..t sake! man)...what next...tried making toast in the oven and burnt my hand on the element...I won't share the choice of words I blurted out, I'll leave that to your imagination.

Thank the good Lord for mother nature and her healing plants. I rushed out to the garden and picked a leaf from the "Bulbinella" succulent plant and squeezed some of it's soothing juice on the burn.

bella plant.jpg
The Bulbinella plant is used for all types of rashes, sunburn, insect bites and a whole lot of other ailments.
The next day, I didn't have a blister and all the redness was gone, I call it my miracle plant, it really works.

Omg!... I must tell you the drama didn't end there, the little "gremlin" wasn't finished with his evil tricks yet, causing chaos once again.

They say, bad things happen in threes...well!...I woke up this morning ecstatic to have running water from the taps again....took a stroll, or should I say, "slid" down the passage to make coffee and was showered with water from the ceiling...I mean I wanted the water back on and have a decent shower in my own bathroom, I didn't expect the bloody heavens to open.... yip!...the geyser burst.
Oh glory glory halleluiah...I didn't know whether I should cry or laugh.

Water flowing from the ceiling through the light bulb missing my computer by fractions.
I've never seen water flow from a light bulb before.
Peter ran around switching the electricity and geyser tap off before anymore accidents happened.

Now the waiting game begins with the insurance company. I really don't know how long it's going to take with all the claims coming in with the floods.
Well!...what can one do...but wait...I just hope that's the end of the drama in my house.

I don't know what to think any more, I've been feeling so many emotions and different mixed up thoughts lately...my kids are very concerned for us, and wanting us to be here, there and every where.
I feel like I'm looking at a sign post pointing in all directions and just don't know which one is the right one to take at the moment.
I see a Cape town sign...Mmmm...that might just be the right one to take Lol! We need a long holiday after this lot.

This is how I feel at the moment...😘

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share my story with you.
Be careful and stay safe.

How many calamities! Even though you try to keep a good attitude, it's normal to get desperate sometimes, what I can tell you is that All this will pass, and it will only be a bad memory.

You're so right my friend, it's like the gremlins have been let loose! Every week this year has brought new calamities, it's really been unreal 😳 Let's hope that's it for now and just like you, it may be a sign that it's decision time, where to and when, is the big question 🤔
Hoping they bring you a new geyser today! We've been fortunate as ours has always been repaired on the same day through the insurance emergency cover, but like you say, maybe they've been inundated with calls as the trapped air in the waterpipes could perhaps have caused many similar calamities!
What next is often my question of late🙈
Take care @artywink 🤗

Water from the light bulb, I had that in a flat in Edinburgh, the person above had filled a bath and then gone out and left the tap on, result overflowing bath and water coming down my lightbulb. Luckily I was home and via the police, managed to break inside the flat and turn off water!

Life is sent to try is at times like this, and then I remember how lucky we are to have what we have, as many people live without the convenience of electric and fresh water and running water on a permanent basis.

I hope your head heals and you get back to normal soon!

We were lucky we were home too, it would've been much worse, you're right, sometimes these things are sent to try us. I always think of my grandma in times like this, she never had electricity or water on her farm. She relied on tank water and family bringing water from town. She cooked the most devine food on a coal stove, we are are to spoiled, my grandma survived all her life like that. She was the most amazing person and taught me a lot. Thank you for passing by @tengolotodo I appreciate you reading my post.

Hi @artywink!
I understand you very well. Here the services suck and many times there are problems with the water supply. We have a tank in our apartment but it's just enough to keep the toilets decent. Normally the shortage is one or two days a week, but the pipes are not maintained and when one breaks in the street, the shortage is greater. In some parts of the country it is worse. So I can understand you. Being without water is a nightmare.
I am sorry for all the calamities you have been through and I hope that everything get normal soon and that the insurance responds quickly. Cheers!

Thank you @coquicoin, my grandma always use to say, a River never flows backwards it flows forward. So I guess we just have to keep moving forward. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my post. Have an awesome day.
