A Visit to the Nursery / Market Friday
Hello my dear Market Friday friends.
Come and join me on a visit to the Nursery at the Mushroom Farm in the green hills of Kwa Zulu Natal South Africa.
We have a empty space in our garden which needs to be brightened up a bit with some shrubs and plants.
Being in a gardening mood, hubby and I decided to take a drive to our favorite nursery at the "Mushroom Farm" about a 5 minute drive from where we live.
It's located on an old Chef Mushroom Farm where mushrooms are sold whole sale to the public; because the sheds are no longer used to grow mushrooms, have now been converted into shops, offering a chosen range of businesses from animal food, antique collections and vegie shop.
The farm is one of our hidden gems tucked away off the beaten track.
I love the "nonchalant" atmosphere it has, lovely country style with chickens roaming around happily amongst the shoppers.
My first stop was the old world country style furniture shop.
I had to go in there as it's my kind of décor, it gives me some inspiration to redo one or two items of furniture at home. Hehe!
Reflection of me in the mirror trying to set my camera on my phone.
Didn't realize I was standing in front of a mirror Lol!! (posted photo just for fun).
This shop is so choker block full of different types of furniture, one can hardly move around in it.
One could go crazy in there, buying any thing from a spoon to tin can and any shape or size table and chairs to hand woven rugs, to baskets, I could go on and on.
I wasn't going to spend to much time there, as my main aim was the nursery.
The woolen rugs are beautifully hand woven and dyed, I was quite surprised as they weren't to expensive for the quality.
The awesome wooden tops caught my eye at the entrance of the shop.
Beautifully carved from indigenous trees around the area where they've
been chopped down to make space for development; which is really sad, our country side is turning into an urban city and slowly losing it's country authenticity.
This little shop also does garden furniture in wrought iron, which is quite impressive.
Well!...lets step into the Nursery
I think I've enough roses for now, anyway...I propagate my own.
The beautiful ground cover with the different colors were very enticing...I think I'll come back for some of them after I've laid out the bed and planted the shrubs...any way I've only a small budget at the moment.
Beautiful colorful little succulent plants, I have quite a few different ones in the garden already, so we'll pass on them I think.
Yes...now we're talking, spent a little time walking around looking for what I wanted. Hubby had disappeared, who knows where.
After wondering around and choosing the plants I wanted, I went hunting for hubby to come back to the nursery and help load the car.
With car loaded with some shrubs, just a few.....not many...around six different shrubs, we made our way home.
I was quite chuffed with my buy, 120 bucks, not to shabby I'd say. Lol
So...that was our excursion to the "Mushroom Farm Nursery", hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.
HAPPY MARKET FRIDAY

What a great place! Only five minutes down the road! Score! What an enviable distance for the beauty shed there. These garden shops today are such fun! I could spend all day there, but, that would be trouble, for sure!
The inside place with furniture would be where I would start and you would probably have to carry me out of there. Oh! At the risk of sounding uncaring, did you see those tabletops?? They were spectacular! I don't like chopping down trees, but, we have had a few downed ones on our property at the shore. The sawmills there have made some beautiful boards with them. I'd rather keep the trees alive, but, a few have been lost through weather or Mother Nature.
The woven rugs are gorgeous. They look similar to the ones I got in Ecuador, although the colors were very different. I love those kinds of textiles and appreciate all the work that goes into them. By the way, I loved the accidental shopper getting caught in the mirror. :))
I am so glad you got your bushes, Sounds like you struck quite the bargain! What kind of bushes did you get? This was so much fun, let do this again soon!
