Sublime Sunday: It's Beach Time
The calm sea. Al Bateen Beach, Abu Dhabi
Best spot to catch the morning sun!
Yes, yes! Coffee by the beach. Perfect-O
"It's alive! It's alive!"
Beach Time!
Finally, the desert heat is starting to subside and we can actually spend some time at the beach. The kids have been waiting for this time -- this is the first time that we are going to the beach this year if I am not mistaken. Yes, that long, even if we are practically five minutes away from the nearest beach.
Looking back, yes it has been over a year since our last visit to the beach:
Wednesday Walk : At The Beach |
---|
Because it's Sunday, we have to go early in order to beat any crowd who may also be going. I remember there was a time when we had to hop about two beaches because the queue of people is so long as early as 7:00am! Mind you, this was at the height of Covid pandemic and there were lots of restrictions and health protocols that need to be followed at that time (think wearing masks at the beach). Nowadays, we can freely enter without even temperature checks, and yes, without masks.
The water today was so pleasant -- just the right temperature and the kids immediately changed into their swimming suits and jumped right in! There's no time to lose the sun could still burn even at just 9:00am. Still, the kids were able to find lots of small fish even by the shore, and lots of clams and hermit crabs.
"It's alive! It's alive!"
Through the clear water, I noticed this hermit crab walking on the sand. I picked it up and gave it to the kids. They immediately ran to their dad while shouting, "It's alive! It's alive!"
The hermit crab was much larger than the usual that they find so they were so excited to examine it. Little Man nicknamed it "Sprinkley" because of the specks of sand attached to the shell, they look like sprinkles!
Beach + Coffee
Apart from the swim, having coffee by the beach was my favorite part of our little escapade this morning. Sipping coffee with small waves tickling my toes? How much better could it get?
I told the kids we could do this every weekend, and I wouldn't mind. LOL. However, as it was during the peak of summer, going to the beach in the wintertime will definitely be challenging too! I guess as long as the weather permits, then we could do this a regular thing this season.

I haven't been to the beach for so long, and I love the sea, but I haven't had the chance since the pandemic. Great that you and your kids had a good time :)
Thank you! These kids just love the "big water" so much, they will not stop asking when we would go if I give them just the slightest hint that "it may be a good time to go to the beach".
Ah that looks like a beautiful place for sure! Such an awesome spot to enjoy a nice cup of coffee :D
Yep!waking up early was so worth it. ☺️
