On becoming a whale - My journey on Hive

(Edited)

It's funny how life works sometimes, isn't it? HiveBuzz, a project I created to notify others about their achievement on Hive, told me today that I became a whale.

The cover image of this post is Midjourney's variation of the HiveBuzz badge as "a happy whale with blocks and bees"

From an anonymous contributor to this new status, my journey was a long run of commitment, perseverance, and personal growth. I want to share my story with you, not to boast, but as an example of how anyone can achieve great things on Hive with hard work, dedication, and engagement with the community.

I must admit that reaching this level was not an easy task. I hope I can inspire and motivate others who are on a similar journey. I want to show you that it's possible to become a whale on Hive when you are patient and committed.

More than six years ago...

I discovered Steem Hive and immediately fell in love with it. As someone who is passionate about technology, I was drawn to its unique architecture, made up of financial, technical and social components, and its vibrant community.

Since then, I've been actively involved in the ecosystem, developing tools like HiveSQL, HiveBuzz, HiveAuth and many other apps, running a witness node, participating in Hive governance.

One of the most important things I've learned is the importance of having a long-term vision. When I first joined Hive, I didn't have any expectations of becoming a whale or making a lot of money. My primary motivation was to learn, contribute to the community and build something useful.

Pretty soon I realized that it wasn't about cashing out all your rewards and trying to make a quick buck. It's about investing in yourself and in the platform, and being patient.

Unless you're rich like Croesus (which I wasn't) and buy a bunch of HIVE from the market, it can take a long time to become a whale. You need to stay committed. You need to power up regularly and resist the temptation to cash out.

So, my advice to anyone who wants to be successful on Hive is to have that long-term vision. Don't focus on short-term gains or instant gratification. Instead, focus on building and contributing to the community. With patience and persistence, you can achieve your goals.

Community Engagement

One of the most challenging aspects of Hive is engagement. It's not just about creating content and hoping people will notice you and throw upvotes. It's about actively participating in the community, interacting with others, and building relationships.

For me, it was a significant hurdle to overcome. I'm naturally a reserved and discreet person. I often isolate myself to work, a bit like a bear who stays warm in his cave. Putting myself out there was a challenge. But I quickly realized that if I wanted to stand out, I needed to engage with the community.

One of the most effective ways to do it was by attending events like SteemHiveFest. It gave me the opportunity to meet other Hive users, network with like-minded people, and even create real and longstanding friendships. It helped me build relationships with others who have been instrumental in supporting and motivating me along the way.

Another way to engage with the community is by actively participating in governance. As a top witness, I have the privilege of contributing to the direction of Hive and helping to shape its future. This involvement has given me a sense of purpose and has helped me connect with those who share my passion.

Personal Growth

Growing your account isn't just about accumulating tokens or becoming a whale. It's also about personal growth and development. Through my journey on Hive, I've learned many valuable lessons that also helped me grow as a person.

One of the most significant lessons I've learned is the importance of persistence and patience. Being successful on Hive takes time, effort, and dedication. It's not something that happens overnight. I've had to persevere through difficult times and stay committed to my vision, even when progress seemed slow or nonexistent.

Another lesson I've learned is the value of collaboration and teamwork. Hive is a community-driven platform, and it's the collective effort of its members that drives its success. Interestingly, in my professional life, I used to manage teams as a leader. However, on Hive, we are all leaders. The decentralized nature of this platform requires a different mindset and approach to work effectively. It was definitely a learning curve for me, but also a refreshing change. Working in a fully decentralized organization can be disconcerting at times, but it teaches you to be adaptable and resourceful.

I've also learned the importance of stepping out of my comfort zone and taking risks. It was a significant challenge, but it's something that's helped me grow as a person, to expand my horizons and push myself to new heights.

About Jealousy and Envy

One of the biggest challenges on Hive, as on any social platform, is avoiding feelings of jealousy or envy towards others who have achieved success or recognition. It can be easy to fall into the trap of comparing oneself to others and feeling discouraged or resentful when others seem to be doing better.

However, it's important to remember that everyone's journey is unique. Just because someone else gets more attention or success doesn't mean that there is less for you.

Instead of feeling jealous or envious, try to focus on your own achievements and the progress you've made. Celebrate the successes of others, and use them as motivation to continue working towards your own goals. Remember that Hive is a collaborative community, and that we can all benefit from supporting and encouraging one another.

It is on these foundations that I created the HiveBuzz project and that we carried out its mission. Even if we sometimes put people in competition, thanks to the HiveBuzz Ranking for example, we also strive to offer new personal challenges to everyone, to support them and to motivate them for their accomplishments.

My ultimate goal is to instill a positive and supportive community spirit on Hive.

Give and you shall receive

(Luke, 6:38)

This is the motto that guided my behavior as soon as I landed on Hive.

It's been essential to me to give back to the community. I always wanted to support other users and help them achieve their goals. Whether it's by curating content, sponsoring events or promising projects, I try to use my influence to make a positive impact.

By giving back, I think you not only help to strengthen the Hive ecosystem as a whole but also build connections with other users.

At the same time, it's important to avoid falling into the trap of greed. While it can be tempting to focus solely on accumulating more Hive Power and rewards, this mindset can lead to a narrow and ultimately unsatisfying experience.

Instead, I tried my best to act with a spirit of generosity and community-building. By doing so, you may find that you receive more support and recognition in return.

Lessons Learned

If I had to sum up this rather (long) philosophical post and give some advice so that you too can one day become a happy whale, here are some key points:

Patience is key: growing on Hive is a long run and it takes time and effort. It's important to be patient and committed to your vision, even when progress seems slow.

Community engagement is critical: engaging with the community is essential. Comment on other people's posts, participate in governance, attend community events, and contribute to community initiatives whenever possible.

Collaboration is powerful: the collective effort will drive our platform's success, and you own success will be part of the process. Collaborate with others and work together towards a common goal.

Take risks: Stepping out of your comfort zone and taking risks is necessary for personal and professional growth. Embrace new opportunities and challenges, even if they seem daunting at first.

Unless you buy your stakes, your success will depend on your work, but also on the appreciation that others will have of it. Be positive and kind to yourself and others, and above all be grateful.

A last word

Becoming a whale was a long and challenging journey, but it was also a rewarding one. I learned from both successes and failures.

If you're just starting on Hive, or if you're looking for inspiration to help you stay motivated, I hope that my story can serve as an example of what's possible.

I want to express my gratitude to some of the incredible people who have played a vital role in helping me achieve my goals. Without their support and encouragement, on many occasions, I could have let myself be caught up in discouragement.

I am grateful to @gtg, @blocktrades, @acidyo, @roelandp, @someguy123, @lukestokes, @traciyork, @victoriabsb, @crimsonclad, @theycallmedan, @zirochka, @detlev, @lizanomadsoul, @louis88, @raphaelle, @techybear, @captaink, @anyx and many others who have been there at various step of the way. Perhaps without even knowing it, you have been, if not a source of inspiration, at the very least a useful help and I am grateful to you.

PS: I would like to stress that the above list is by no means exhaustive. There are countless other individuals who have also supported and encouraged me and I am deeply grateful to each and every one of them. I hope that my mention of a few specific names only does not offend or exclude anyone.

May Hive continue to grow and welcome more whales into its ranks. Best of success to all those who strive towards this goal!

It hasn't been an easy journey for you, but I must say, I remembered your contribution towards the blockchain during the steemit days.

One of the biggest challenges on Hive, as on any social platform, is avoiding feelings of jealousy or envy towards others who have achieved success or recognition. It can be easy to fall into the trap of comparing oneself to others and feeling discouraged or resentful when others seem to be doing better.

You've said it all, I mean, it's almost of the biggest problems and even when you think no one should fall for that, a lot of people are still doing so, creating chaos and carving bad blood everywhere they go.

Thanks for the inspiring words, the support, sometimes, such inspiration is needed by many who are feeling differently about what their journey is .

Thank you @josediccus.

Unfortunately, so many years have passed since my beginnings on the blockchain. My memory is playing tricks on me and I completely forgot what Steemit was. But no need to remind me, I think I can survive without it. 😇

I'm glad my words could be inspiring and helpful to you and others.

Haht there's no need to remember what the old chain was, the experience is quite a forgettable one. What a journey you've had so far. Congratulations again for coming this far.

It is a wall of text, but worth reading and my time. I love reading your most inspiring words from top to bottom. Honestly, I was genuinely inspired by your journey here in Hive, our dear arcange. Your motivating and inspiring words have inspired not only a beginner like me but everyone in the blockchain.

When you were commenting on my post in August 2022, when my sister Erika died, I did not know about you, I do not know about Hive at those moments, but you were so friendly and took the time to comment on my post with your most comforting words. I must say that you are so humble, and my salute to you.

The lessons that you have mentioned above could make everybody reflect on how to be successful in the blockchain. Everybody has a different story of success, but I firmly believe that patience, dedication, commitment, consistency, and perseverance are keys, similar to what you have said, for there is no such thing as overnight success.

Your success was easy to see, but I know you have been through ups and downs, and it is good that you have shared how you have been into struggles and challenges. And yes, envy and jealousy are expected, and the root of this is comparing. We all have diverse roads toward progress, and you have highlighted those most powerful words that we must focus on our progress instead. The more we compare and contrast, the more we are blinded by the truth, and I agree with what you have highlighted above.

Perhaps you were not only growing for yourself, but you were also helping others grow as you have supported everyone in the best way possible. You were not after instant gratification, but you are what you are now because of your commendable attitude, especially humility.

I wanted to tell you that your journey inspired me. Congratulations, arcange. If only I could clap here, I would, and my loudest applause to you. You are such a humble whale! Blessings to you! !PIZZA !LUV

Dear @pinkchic, it is with great emotion that I read your comment.

I remember very well this moment when Erika abruptly left us. I'm glad to read that I was able to be comforting at this difficult time for you and your family.
Honestly, your comment made my day and I thank you warmly for that.
Blessings to you too! !LUV ❤️

All my words about you are genuine and come from my grateful heart, even if I do not know you personally. And I may not thank you every single day but know that I am eternally thankful, especially for the moment when I lost a loved one most tragically.

Thank you as well for your most precious time and attention. I am just a wee fish but you are so humble in responding to my comment. You will always be that humble whale I met here in Hive. Once again, thank you very much, arcange. I wish you more success and keep soaring!

Congratulations brother, you deserve all the success you're having, always dedicating yourself to making events and helping people!

It's good to see you've made such a big progress!

I managed to evolve from Red fish to minnow and I'm trying hard to become a dolphin, I started posting about 8 or 9 months ago, I had my account but I didn't know how to use it, the community is very welcoming, there's always one or the other with envy, but this is normal.

I have you, @ph1102 @jim-crypto @stickupboys @enginewitty @legalizabrazil @clove71 @marianaemilia and @kstreet , as an inspiration to continue to evolve in the community and add content to the hive. Thank you so much for making me feel like part of a family.

Critical Important note for all from this post

"Instead of feeling jealous or envious, try to focus on your own achievements and the progress you've made. Celebrate the successes of others, and use them as motivation to continue working towards your own goals."

Don't compare yourself to others and instead focus on you and how you can do better.

Thanks for @bitcoinflood.

It's true that comparison can sometimes be discouraging.
I have learned over time to ignore these feelings and it has positively impacted my life and that of those around me.
All the best!

A new whale raised a big wave.😊

But in fact, this is an excellent post. A post of wisdom! 👆 I wish as many people as possible to read it, especially newbies.
I think the most common mistake about Hive is that is it advertised as a platform where you can make money. In most cases. And that's it, they came here for the money. But if money is the only and the main goal, this path most likely will be short. It you're not robot (or AI 😁). If you don't enjoy what you do on Hive (or for Hive), like creating value for the community (this can be fun!), then it can be seen. I see it even with my not native English. And this is boring.

You have found your niche. This is the perfect combination - something you like to do and something that brings money.😉

Congratulations! You are amazing person, and I am glad I have met you.

P.S. Am I the only one who believed you ARE the whale already?😁

Thank you so much for your kind words dear @zirochka 🌹

You are absolutely right. Even if we no longer use the"blog and earn" concept to advertise HIVE for a long time, habits are stubborn for some.
If you only come to Hive for the money, it's unlikely you'll stick around for long.
Fun has always been one of my top motivators, hence the idea of HiveBuzz.

I was delighted to meet you at HiveFest and to do such a touching presentation with you.
You are amazing too and I can't wait for us to meet again. !LUV

Hello from Cuba. This yours is a very inspiring post for all the people around Hive, those with some time here and some like me, that see myself yet as a newbie. I'm willing to share soon the vision I have on Hive since I reached the 100 HP milestone. It's not maybe a big deal, but man I worked so hard that I even think that I was entitled to more. But this isn't a grievance on the blockchain, because I'm really connected by the essence of your post that is similar to the exposed by other successful people: stay focused, learn, engage, and some results will come in. That approach has helped me so far, I know it works, and I know it will guide me to big stories to tell here with time and effort. I congratulate you for your dedicated work and, though a symbolic move because of my stake, have approved you as a witness of this whole ecosystem. Best regards from the Island.

Hello @limonta, greetings to Cuba, and thank you for your feedback.
Congratulation on reaching your 100 HP milestone 🎉

It's not maybe a big deal...

On the contrary, it's great. You have only been there for a few months and you seem to have understood the importance of capitalizing part of your awards by doing regular power-ups. Cheer!
The beginnings are often slow, but for those who understood it, the snowball effect is very real.

Thank you for your congratulations and your witness support. Much appreciated!
Looking forward to seeing your account grow too. 🐬

HiveBuzz, a project I created to notify others about their achievement on Hive, told me today that I became a whale.

Congratulations 🙌🙌🙌 You truly deserve this, and much more :) What you said about giving really is true, I've seen it more than once! But it needs to be done in the way you did it, without expecting rewards for it. Thanks so much for everything you do here, and in particular for what you have done for me 🎆👍🎆

Unless you're rich like Croesus (which I wasn't) and buy a bunch of HIVE from the market, it can take a long time to become a whale.

That's where I am too. My account was built entirely on the support of others (including you :) ). I don't expect to be a whale for at least another decade, unless one of my other crypto investments moon. That being said, if you had told me a year ago that today I'd have over 3000 HP I'd never have believed it 😲

One of the most challenging aspects of Hive is engagement. It's not just about creating content and hoping people will notice you and throw upvotes. It's about actively participating in the community, interacting with others, and building relationships.

This is also one of the most rewarding and addictive things about Hive :) ...

Sorry I didn't see this until today, belated happy Whale Day 🎁

But if you ever do, this post really inspired me to be patient, persevere and do better with regards to Hive. Congrats on officially joining the whale table🥂

Many congratulations on the achievement! 🐋🏆🐳

In fact, everything you list to get you to where you are is essential. Hard work, dedication, engagement, patience, persistence and retribution!

All these qualities and virtues I could see in many of the most influential members of this non-centralized community, who participated in one way or another, in my very first HF in Amsterdam!

I was impressed, and I told you at the time, with your availability, simplicity and willingness to share even with the smallest plankton that I was at that time (and you said it that "no matter if you are a plancton... EVERYONE CONTS ON HIVE 😊)!

I identify a lot with what you say about the comfort zone, because "by nature" I am a more reserved person, but the fact that it forces me to leave the comfort zone is making me a better version of myself.

I hope to see you on another HF (I'm hoping I can participate in HF8...). Let's see if availability and location help me!

A big hug! 🍀

im so happy for you
you are a good persona i remember when you first interacted with me when I asked you things about the hive currency that you needed to be patient in the long run since then i stopped being in a hurry and now i wait for things to come normally people with great influence and voting power tend to ignore others but you don't he did that and he always answers me everything I ask recently I reached 1 million points here at hive and I am also happy to be more active and is interacting with other people from other communities and making a good friendship who knows one day (if I have the patience ) also receive a whale seal from the hive, I wish you all the best and that you always achieve everything you want! have a good day!

I want to share my story with you, not to boast, but as an example of how anyone can achieve great things on Hive with hard work, dedication, and engagement with the community.

This! Sharing one's own story is by far the best form to motivate someone. That notwithstanding, it does not get any less hard for one to share their story for the purposes on motivation. There is always the guilt feeling of coming across as boastful.

I am here to tell you that, this your blog is the best post I have read on this platform. It as inspirational as you have intended it.
As someone still trying to discover myself on this platform, you have given me best information I need. Apart from the motivation of the possibility of making it big here, you have provided good enough information to guide one to get there.

Growing your account isn't just about accumulating tokens or becoming a whale. It's also about personal growth and development.

I've also learned the importance of stepping out of my comfort zone and taking risks. It was a significant challenge, but it's something that's helped me grow as a person, to expand my horizons and push myself to new heights.

Your ideal life is waiting for you on the other side of fear, as the saying goes.

However, it's important to remember that everyone's journey is unique. Just because someone else gets more attention or success doesn't mean that there is less for you.

I joined this platform with my friends and they are all ahead (in terms on reputation and hp). As their activities do motivate me sometimes, other times it's just so overwhelming feeling the need to keep up. I am juggling a couple of things including surviving as a final year undergraduate student; working on my final project, responsibilities as a department executive, trying to maintain my businesses and startup, and so on.
I have just come to accept that everyone's journey is different and I try not to let anything get into my head.
Thus I am still finding myself on here.

Unless you buy your stakes, your success will depend on your work...
Needed to hear this! Not that I don't already know it.

It is on these foundations that I created the HiveBuzz project and that we carried out its mission.

How wonderful! The creator of HiveBuzz! It's an honor to interact with you sir.
I have just started working on my undergraduate dissertation on the topic "Mitigatinf security risks in blockchain networks" and I would use your expertise in the area to gather information. I chose this particular topic not because I have any in-depth knowlegde about blockchain but rather because I am interested in the area and I am willing to learn. In fact I wish to get a master program in the area.

Thank you for sharing your wonderful story with us.
I am inspired and motivated.

Your ideal life is waiting for you on the other side of fear, as the saying goes.

I like this saying. It matches the one I use:
You shouldn't listen to its little tyrants, those many little negative phrases that we say to ourselves, which frighten us and paralyze us. Although they are many, they are small. Seen from this angle, it becomes easier to shoot down a few and move on without waiting for a better life.

... other times it's just so overwhelming feeling the need to keep up ...

I feel you. Try to find the right balance that works for you and learn to let go.

... I am willing to learn

I can only encourage you to follow this path.

Best of luck with all your projects.

I love whale songs, and in fact I would like to have the opportunity to see them up close in Patagonia, for example. In their natural habitat.
But... What do I say? Here I was thinking about writing a post for right now and I said to myself, you should take a bath, make some coffee.... Breathe. Tune in to all that spirit of nature with your own... Then the miracle happened to find this post in which I see many times repeated the words engagement, patience, commitment, strength and focus (according to my idea after reading).
I was happy for you, not because you are already a whale, according to HiveBuzz statistics, but because of the wisdom you bring us in this post and that to share it you undoubtedly possess it. By the way, I love talking to HiveBuzz and it always makes me smile. That spirit is yours indeed, the spirit of joy and for that I am very grateful.
I think that to achieve great things in life you need to have good wood. You insist on them, only then can you achieve the big goals, or the small goals that can take you to a great place..... Patagonia, maybe.

I would add enjoyment. That hard work is not work, but also party, pleasure, enjoyment.

Now I go more inspired to my post.

Thank you

Congratulations on your elevation to whale-hood ! I think I might have to print your post out and pin it to my wall to get daily inspiration 😁

Also, thank you so much for making Hivebuzz. I like to think I'm heading in the right kind of direction in terms of being a busy little contributing bee within Hive, but Hivebuzz is brilliant because it allows me to compete with myself. Trying to be a bit better each day, and seeing that turned into actual numbers is a huge motivator.

The awesome thing about Hive is that we can see your achievements and be inspired rather than jealous of them, because we know with the same effort and dedication, any of us can get to the same place.

I have the body of a whale, perhaps one day I'll have the Hive account of one too. 😁

Thanks for such an inspiring content. I am willing to pursue the same path and I am now also struggling with Envy when I see posts where I put much effort not being appreciated while others are getting tons of money out of (what my ego consider) nothing.

I have committed to publish once per day this year (and the ones to come eventually) to show myself what I am capable of in terms of consistency and to the community as well!

The road will be long, but luckily there are many people like you supporting creators, giving us fresh water in the desert.

So, thanks for this post, and let's see each other in the Whale status (what are the sizes in HP/points for the different status?)

Thank you for your kind words @mikezillo

I am now also struggling with Envy ...

Forget about it, you're just ruining your life unnecessarily and it won't change anything around you. When envy appears, (try to) stay zen, breathe and let it pass through.
Congratulations on committing to publishing once a day! As I wrote, consistency is key and moreover, you can earn a HiveBuzz badge 😄

Here is the latest values for each level:

< ~560 HP>= ~560 HP>= ~5598 HP>= ~55979 HP>= ~559785 HP

Keep up the good work, and I look forward to seeing you achieve your goals!

This is so beautiful and inspirational for so many reasons. I don't think I can still count myself as a newbie on Hive but the challenges you've listed are things I still face everyday on the Blockchain. Your emphasis on patience and the need to avoid constant self gratification got to me immensely and you won't believe the wealth of knowledge you've imparted on me with these words.

A big congratulations to you @arcange on becoming a whale and I wish you more successes as you continue your Hive journey.✨

Congratulations mate, truly well deserved and meeting you in person last September at Hivefest only added reaffirmation of this.

This post was definitely meant for me, the still voice in my heard kept reading and processing every word, this would pass as an advice given to a child by his experienced father.

Hive has taught me patience at various level, sometimes i just get really frustrated but when i read veterans' posts like yours it always lifts my spirit, "Rome was not built in a day" this quote has been my motor since i joined Hive and it has continued to encourage me.

Congratualations @arcange🤗

Congrats! I agree with a lot of things said in the post.

I think in general the chain has changed for a lot better, many aspects you mentioned were the status quo in the beginning, but I guess having corrupted leadership to begin with caused a lot of bad actors to flourish. Luckily most of those are gone now and as they say "easy come, easy go" same with their stake.

Looking forward to reaching this status myself hopefully soon as well, been a long and weird road with a lot of unexpected roadblocks from life but there's still lots of time which goes quickly if you stay busy and focused.

Guess you also answered my question if hivebuzz counts vests or hp towards its milestones!

Gosh, you are so busyyyyyy! If you really love what you're doing, you will start to have a vision and that vision will push you to your limits and you won't even notice that you are already doing a lot of great things which benefits not just you but the whole community.

Of all the apps you developed, that Hivebuzz is really one of my favorite. It only not notify me about my progress but it is also like a reminder that I have a long way to go before I can reach a certain level so I have to work my ass or I won't achieve anything if I continue dilly dallying. Thank you for this wonderful app of yours 👏.

Whoa 👏, I really need to eat more rice before I can reach that level, but slowly and surely, I'll get there too, soon. Thanks for sharing your journey to us, and to the list of advices, I'll take note of this so I can also use it to my own growth.

Congratulations! From what I've seen here you really deserve it. Seems like you have done a lot for this platform and that's something really commendable. I started my journey just about three months ago so I don't know too many people here. Also, partially because I have the same problem you had of being too reserved at times. One day I can talk to million people and then I need like a week of rest from interactions, haha.

One of the biggest challenges on Hive, as on any social platform, is avoiding feelings of jealousy or envy towards others who have achieved success or recognition.

I gotta admit, I never understood this. Why waste time and energy on something as useless as jealousy? I get that sometimes you might feel that someone's success isn't fair but that doesn't take away anything from you anyway, haha.

My biggest takeaway from this is working on collaborations. I admit I suck at this. I would rather work alone at all times but I guess that isn't the best approach to community-driven platforms, ha?

Thanks for the story and advice, and once again, congrats! :)

This is one of our goals. First, we must reach Orca, but we will do it step by step.

One of our goals is to inspire more Hispanic projects and users to become witnesses. We became a witness almost a year ago and are now in the top 50. La-Colmena (Top 80) and DimeIlaz (Top 100) already started their witnesses. And now that Cervantes is leaving Hive, we even need more to step up.

Awesome stuff, congrats man! I think that's wonderful. I've noticed that changing my mindset from mostly financial to community driven and engagement focused to be much more rewarding for me in many regards. That is definitely a big benefit but there is also quite a bit of personal growth and changing that occurs which is great. Having a fully decentralized environment like this is quite refreshing but it also provides it's own unique challenges and things to learn just like any place can. Onward and upward!

Thank for all @arcange! This is a great summary of the key points from the post on growing on Hive and becoming a happy whale. Patience, community engagement, collaboration, taking risks, and being positive and kind are all crucial elements for success not just on Hive but in any endeavor. It's important to remember that success is not just about personal achievement, but also about contributing to the success of the community as a whole, in this I find the absolute key to a great development of Hive, because only if we believe in a common and strong growth of collaboration, we will be able to aim for distant horizons. For this, showing gratitude and appreciation towards others is a key aspect of building strong relationships and creating a positive environment. Overall, this is valuable advice for anyone looking to grow and thrive in their personal or professional life in my opinion. You are one of the first whales I have admired and supported, thank you for all the work you have done over the years!

Congratulations to you, it surely is an amazing achievement.

A great deal of effort and patience went into it, I can tell. Even though I've spent just over a year on the chain, I say I've figured out how things work here. I too am on the same path I guess, in it for the long run. For now I'm learning, trading and accumulating, hoping to grow.

I'm targeting 10kHP for now, that's the goal. On the road to becoming a shark I guess?

And I thank you for your words of encouragement, I am slowly working towards it. I also have something planned, especially to accumulate at the lower lows, for which I'm currently trading a bit, while leaning on a few detours every now and then.

Along the way I'm also trying to learn more and more about the whole Hive ecosystem and the realm of crypto. Let's see how it all goes. Hoping for the best.

It sure takes a lot of effort to grow on a decentralized platform and there will always be people who are jealous and people who would like to defame you. Breaking all those challenges and staying determined is definitely a great thing.

Congratulations and all the best to all your future projects on Hive. Wish you many more years on Hive. Cheers!

Thanks @bala41288 😊
It's true that growing on a decentralized platform like Hive takes a lot of effort.
But it's also rewarding to see the progress everyone can make. That's at least the path I choose. Let's ignore the curmudgeons and let them despair.
I appreciate your support and wish you all the best on your journey as well! Cheers! 🍻

I've only been in Hive for a year, and I think I'm doing well. I read each of your paragraphs carefully, and so I go, patience, perseverance, dedication, support to other people, make community, participation in everything related to this beautiful world of hive, as I call it my beautiful world of Hive, I have formed a beautiful virtual family, that support me more than my own family, (I attend discord activities, I went to the caracas blockchian week, and other events as jewerly entrepreneur since I make accessories and crafts). Anyway, I have a lot to learn, a long way to go, to achieve the goal of buying my pc, and cell phone to continue working. Despite the limitations that I have in my country because of its social, political, economic and in every way, I will continue and I will achieve it.

Thank you for your beautiful words, your effort, your project and what you have achieved, is worthy of admiration. I love your hivebuzz project.

I would continue saying a thousand things, I have so much to say, so many nice things in one year. I bet hive, and I will continue here tirelessly, as long as life and conditions allow me to do so.

Sorry it is today that I write and read well, but yesterday I was just in a few hive discord activities, and making a post, my posts are somewhat complicated as they are tutorials of crafts and accessories, hahahaha.

Many blessings, and may the successes continue @arcange

Congratulations on becoming a whale @arcange
That's quite an achievement, I'm glad you made it to 'top of the pops' sry bad Brit Humour there,,, no more I promise.

Collaboration is powerful: the collective effort will drive our platform's success, and you own success will be part of the process. Collaborate with others and work together towards a common goal.

I'm glad you mentioned this as I know the witnesses and devs collab a lot,

but there used to be a massive culture of creative collaborations back when Hive was Steem which I felt had fallen off the recent 2-3 years, which was a shame... it was because of the bear market I assumed.

But anyway, I and @nickyhavey really smashed it out of the park 'to use a baseball analogy' with our collaboration of his music and my poetry. We spent a huge amount of time making this and spent £20 each having it professionally mastered at the studio.
I don't really care about the rewards and money with this as I've always wanted my work to feature in a piece of Techno/dance/EDM music for as long as I can remember, and Nicky made it happen with clever editing of the verses of the poem and his awesome beats and melodies.

Creative Collaborations are still alive on hive
and long may it stay that way.

And you can find the full 20-minute headline set which I put up o hive, if you're into poetry... it is called 'Altered States of Poetry' where I promoted hive quite heavily with leaflets distributed to all and sundry.

Creative collaborations like yours are essential for the growth and vitality of the Hive community. They showcase the diverse talents we have on this platform and inspire others to work together. Keep up the excellent work!

I wish I could more often, but truth be told, I am working to several deadlines, the most important being a fully drafted 1st novel in my fantasy series.

I average $7/post, at most, after curation takes their 50%. Both I and NicyHavey spent more than that on the mastering fees (£20 each) to have this tune professionally mastered by a sound engineer in a studio.

I used to get some pretty hefty support on hive a few years back, but it disappeared in a puff of smoke, I'm not sure why, but I suspect I'm on someone with high HP's shtlist 🤣

I know it is not 'the done thing' to talk about money here on hive, but I have had to go to foodbanks more than once in the last 3 years. I can't afford to post more regularly to Hive as I'm incapable of not taking my time to make something I write high quality, by putting it through Hemingway editor and spending time doing my own close-line editing etc.

Since the UK's (ill-advised and downright stupid) Brexit the cost of living here has more 5X'd (and that is a conservative estimate) 😂 while wages aren't following to keep up with the skyrocketing prices of everything.

Anyway, the upshot of this all is I need to prioritise what makes me money to pay the rent/eat etc; which is commissioned work writing web copy, some small amount of freelance journalistic work, a small amount of ghostwriting - but mainly ATM I'm just focused on hammering away on the first book of this trilogy. I'm in the middle of editing the first book right now with a deadline looming.

Writing a novel (especially fantasy) is like rolling the dice, it will either be taken up or not, (but I already have a literary agent so half the battle is won). Due to fashions within the publishing industry, and the overall zeitgeist of the current times in regard to what people like to read it is hard to hit that winning formula (but I am certain that some aspects of my fantasy world haven't been done yet, as I took a lot of time researching that a few of the systems were unique... Gotta have a USP even in the writing world 😂) But I feel I've just about got in on the mid-section of fantasy fiction's popularity... so 🤞 sometime soon I'll see my 📖 on the shelves of Waterstones and other major booksellers.

Anyway, you were 100% right, and this isn't me vote-begging here.

Creative collaborations like yours are essential for the growth and vitality of the Hive community. They showcase the diverse talents we have on this platform and inspire others to work together.

But the culture needs to change to an extent here on hive, in the way whales distribute their votes, or there will be fewer professional creatives on hive, as I have watched them leave i droves over the last 4 years. And no offence to the people in these countries, but Hive will essentially become a money printer for so-called 'developing countries' because the likes of Trafalgar (who hoodwinked all of us creatives on hive with the Hardfork to change the split to 50/50 rather than 75/25 author/curator). Making all sorts of promises at that time about spreading the votes around through manual curation by whales (like Kevin Wong, Trafalgar, heijin and the army of bot accounts they collectively own... the list goes on), and hardly any of these promises were kept!

Autovotes were maintained and a few lucky people obviously have 'the keys to the kingdom' for the Appreciator account... but this is the way it goes I suppose. Quality means nothing, it's not what you know, it's who you know, - Way of the world, I just hoped that things might be different on SteemHive. After all if we can't evolve new modalities of thought/behaviour on new technology like blockchain, what does that say about web 3.0?

Anyway, that's my 50 cents on the subject, I've worked behind the scenes, especially in 2017-2019 on many projects, and wasted a huge amount of my time without being paid for it. There comes a point when that quote Einstein is supposed to have said hits you in the face like a wet kipper

“Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.”

But beyond my opinions, I have to live with the practicalities of my life as a writer. I am more proud of the actual tune I and @nickyhavey made than any rewards. Being featured on a music track of one of my favourite EDM sub-genres of music, Drum'n'Bass is something I've wanted to make happen for decades.

I am also glad you reached whale status, I'm not one of these bitter A-holes who are annoyed because they had to sell the bottom of the market to pay debt collectors. If that hadn't happened at that particular time (near the end of the pandemic) I'd probably be an Orca by now.

Thanks for your response @arcange you always have something meaningful to say. I hope you and your family/friends are healthy and doing well 🙂🌿

It is crazy to think of all you guys like someone who worked and shared a space.

All the shenanigans along the way from literally day one.. that initial July 2016 pump that wrecked everyone lol, Ned's premine stack, the character that ended with berniesanders, the mysterious haejin/ranchorelaxo whale that if im not mistaken is still perpetually dumping the price...

The bot wars when upvotes were for sale, the whole Justin Sun take over and, if im not mistaken, Dan selling condos to buy up more steem getting ready for war which ultimately created hive...

truly has been an interesting journey that I can seem to let go and really am looking forward to see where this all goes.

Congratulations! You're own program is finally promoted you to whale status! I'm far from it myself but hoping to join the ranks one day!

This is the path that I've chosen as well, and for similar reasons; a deep love and passion for what Hive is, what it offers, and the incredible potential that it has over time. Your story is immensely inspirational and motivational for me, and I thank you so very much for sharing it.

My long-term goal here is to become a Hive millionaire whale, so that I may be able to live off of what I do here, and equally importantly, so that I may help as many around me as possible do the same. I see what's possible, and I'm all in for the long haul! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙
