Today I want to share my daily experience while spending the year-end holidays in a rural village where I live now. Today the weather is very favorable, the sun is very hot, the breeze is enough to support children playing kites (kites) or our local language (Acehnese) is often called Geulayang.
Kites are made of bamboo which are sharpened and then tied with threads that form a character, whether it is a type of animal, bird, flower, and others. Then decorated with plastic paper or colorful paper that has a light weight to beautify the kite.
Kite is a traditional game that has been passed down from generation to generation, this game used to be a seasonal game that was often played after the rice harvest season arrived, this game is identical to being played by boys.
Now this game is played almost every day by children like today for example. Now this game is also very often contested, such as to commemorate major holidays, welcoming Independence Day for example.
Anyway, this afternoon the children were very enthusiastic and at the same time they were very happy playing kites, they chatted with their friends, while holding on to the steering wheel to release the kite into the air as high as possible. I really like this kind of atmosphere which we rarely find in urban areas.
Here is a picture of the shy princess plant that I took today using a cellphone camera.
A few introductory stories about kite flying and my year-end holiday activities with the children where I live in my hometown and I hope all of my friends are entertained. Thanks.
