Needlework: Skills That Will Make You Grow as a Needle/Craft Worker
Since I have engaged fully in the making of leather and yarn slippers, shoes, necklaces, earrings, and many more yet to come. I have chosen to apply some skills which have been helping with the business as it keeps growing day by day. Most customers that I have ever come in line with always say good things about me and my working team based on the quality work we offer to them. My shoemaking and knitting business has grown very fast that will have some branches within my locality and we currently sell at wholesale and retail prices based on the demand at hand.
Some of the skills which I have pointed out in business I think will be of good help to every needle worker that mostly participates in the #NeedleWorkMonday community. I know that everyone has his/her own experiences but I just have to share mine.
There are professional, office stand, tools, tolerance, encourage your workers, make research, and improve your skills.
Be professional:
Before you consider starting a business, you must have knowledge of that business. What do I mean about this in shoemaking? As a shoemaker or any needlework you do for a living, make sure that you acquire enough skill from your master before moving to start up your own so that you can be able to satisfy your customer's needs with good and quality skills.
Office stand:
After you must have been qualified by your master to do any needlework and he gives you a certificate of evidence, the next thing is for you to get yourself a good shop that is well located in any city of your choice. Most times the location of your craft or needlework business does not really matter when you have good skills to gain a competitive advantage in the competitive craft and every needlework environment. What you have as a skill to show the general public matters a lot. Just like me, I am expecting to be in any of these countries like the US, UK, Germany, France, Italy, China, Japan, and many more if given the opportunity.
Tools:
One of the things that give your needlework skill keep going is the tools you are using for your work. You must get important tools for your craft or needlework that suits your skill. If you have complete tools for your work, it will give you a chance to compete with others. Good tools make the job easy for you.
Be tolerance:
Every #needlework person must learn how to tolerate his/her customer at every given time. As a needle worker, you must be ready to meet people with different characters, and the ability of you to tolerate and control them gives you an upper hand to do business with them for a long time in life. Remember steady customer is not easy to get. So, be wise.
Encourage your workers:
If you want to go far with your needle or craft work, you must not do the business alone. You need workers to support the business. For you being the director of the business, you must have a good mutual relationship with your workers to enable them to bring out the best in them.
Make research:
The internet has come to stay and is always there for you to visit at your own pace. With the help of research on the internet. You may have access to browse through the #hive social network and other sites that can help you get some knowledge about other people’s working skills.
Improve your skills:
Try as much as possible to improve your needlework skill every year to get you updated on the latest development on what customers are currently demanding from the market.
One of the reasons I shared the ideas above with you is that a customer congratulated me and my team yesterday and today based on the work we did for him. He told me and my team that we should keep the skill moving which warranted me to write.
Below, I will be showing you some of the samples of the slippers I did for a customer that made him say good things to my team.
I will like to mention the materials and tools used in making the slippers:
Sole.
Leather.
