Books and Organic Vegetables, do We really Need more ?
"If you have a library and a garden, you have everything you need" - Cicero.
Hello dear Hivers, how are you today ? I'm taking you to my favorite market in Paris. This one is located in the 12th arrondissement and if it's my favorite, it's because it's both a flea market and a food market.
For the vegetables, I went to an organic shop, but I didn't take any pictures, we'll see my collection later in detail... For the moment, it's mostly my bag on the pavement ^^
At the flea market I find a few books, but I only take the one in the second picture which is about the universe.
Here are some other unusual finds that I don't buy. A scale that works with metal tension and a slightly morbid and embarrassing dentist's color chart...
But here I am back home...
These books in the "What do I know ?" series really fascinate me. There are thousands of them on thousands of subjects and I must say that I have started a sort of collection.
From left to right, there are: The Ant People, Memory, The Universe, Writing, Stylistics, Currency, Place Names, Geology and I have dozens more.
I think it's wonderful to have books in physical form that deal with a single theme. In any case, it's perfect for a writer !
Here, two books found at the flea market on two famous painters, Courbet and Bruegel.
Let's move on to vegetables and food. I only cook from staples and I have to say that in the end it's much more nutritious than if I bought prepared things. Of course organic food is more expensive, but I think that health is priceless !
So on the menu for the next few days, aubergines with tomato sauce, steamed chard and tuna with lemon or mayonnaise :)
This is my latest find and I am very happy with it as it cost me 3€ which is not much for the quality of the book. It's a book on basketry published by the Swiss handicraft company. I might as well tell you that this is a very good quality book !
Here are a few pictures to give you an idea of what the book contains. With this, I think that when I have time in the countryside, I will know how to make a basket just with this book !
Let's finish with a little update of the calendulas on my balcony, our solitary one has been joined by new flowers! I can't wait to see the rest of our flowering bush :)
Voilà, that's all for today !
I hope you enjoyed this light-hearted article and I would like to thank @dswigle for this wonderful #MarketFriday community !
Thank you for your visit, I wish you a nice day and a very good weekend in advance,
<3
Not an ounce of AI in this article,
all these images are mine.

Awww, I see that you have been in a great market in Paris where you have bought the best buys. I love the concept of both a flea market and a food market. And of course, I love the book that you bought about baskets handcraft. I have tried making one through recyclable materials but those are just basics. This book teaches complex ones and I am happy you found it my dear friend. Happy shopping and happy market Friday!
Thanks for taking the time to stop by and visit dear @pinkchic !
It's indeed an really interesting concept to organize both at the same time and in the same hours, but it's quite rare and specific, here in Paris it's the only district where it takes place like this...Never tried making baskets yet, but I would love to try :)
Thank you again, I wish you a very good weekend 😇

You have a favorite market and here I am, I dread going to markets with so many people in it.
I like that you added more books to your collection. Your shopping was worth it in the end✨
I totally understand, I'm not a crowd person as well, but here, that was still alright ^^
Yeah, books and food, that could be a good way of describing me haha !
Thanks for stopping by dear @wongi, how are you going those last days ?
Best wishes for this weekend 😉✌️
Books and food =anttn...noted😅
I've been great, I hope you've been good too
Hehe !
I'm going well too :)
Enjoy your Sunday !
The best of both worlds!!! Books and food!
Oh, my! You really came across some different items there, didn't you? I have to wonder how a dentist's tooth color chart got to be donated - or rather, who would be interested in it?? Flea markets are filled with unique items, right down to some bizarrely awful castoffs.
Some are even a bit useful. We love those!
It looks like you scored with two more in the "What do I know" series. I find it interesting to have a book dedicated to one subject at a time. I cannot believe they have so many, yes? But, then there are many more thousands that probably need to be written.
Aubergines with tomato sauce are delicious, especially when using fresh tomatoes. I haven't had tuna in probably two months. Now, I crave it. I am always looking for different touches for the Swiss chard. I lack the creativity for it. The book on baskets is a real find. I hope you do find the time to make some baskets!
Your flowers on the balcony are vibrant pops of pretty. I like putting them on my balcony too, they add a nice touch of beauty. Even more, I love the window boxes as I put them on different levels and fill them with geraniums. Oh, beauty. Flowers do it to me every time.
Thank you for your always wonderfully informative posts and for being a part of the challenge! Have a wonderful weekend!
#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers' markets, and eventually branched out and evolved over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, and even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact that these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world. Thank you for being a part of #MarketFriday
Rules of the Road to Join #MarketFriday!
1.Go to any type of market, or anywhere where you pay money for a service. It can be a museum, a movie theatre, or an auction. Be creative!
2.Tell us a little bit about the market or the event. What brought you there? What did you buy? How much did it cost? We like to compare prices, otherwise, it is just pictures of a market!
3.Post the pictures! No out-of-focus ones, please! Tell a little bit about the pictures that you post. Having many pictures to scroll through does not make a better post without explanation.
4.Use the MarketFriday Community Platform to post #hive-196308 (this is not required, but appreciated) If you don't, then #MarketFriday should be your first tag
5.Following me and reblogging the post so more see it would be appreciated !! Not a rule, just appreciated, more vision for more views on your posts!
6 You must put #MarketFriday by @dswigle somewhere on your post.
7.#MarketFriday post should be submitted sometime on Friday UTC
8.The post MUST be in English
9.Drop the link into the MarketFriday comment section so I can find it
#MarketFriday loves you!
Hi again Denise 👋 !
This is precisely why I love those place, so much brillant, weird and absurd encounters with bizarre and rich things haha !
I believe they edited thousands of those "What do I know" books, one time in a second hand bookshop, I've see several dozen linear meters of those, and there were only unique ones, no duplicates... And I assume they didn't have the complete collection yet ^^
Thanks you for the tip about fresh tomatoes, I usually use those in sauce already, but not prepared, just mixed, but as you for tuna, I'm now craving for fresh and ripe tomatoes, but I guess I'll still have to wait a bit... Also hope to find the time to improve (start ^^) my inexistant skills in basket making !
And for the calendulas, gosh..! I so found of them, hopefully my girlfriend is not too jealous and love them as much as me haha ! Thank you very much for taking a so detailed visit through my adventure of this #MarketFriday :))
Enjoy your Sunday 🌻
It's much more fun to read into the stories, isnt bit? The best parts are all in the details !
Hope you are enjoying your Sunday!
Always ! In a era of screens, reading seems difficult for some... Bad time for someone who wants to be a writer haha !
Thanks, it was indeed quite a delicious weekend :) By the way, just wanted to let you know I share a bit more this morning about the house... or more the garden !
May you have a good starting week 😘
Thank you !!
Hello dear @anttn
Going to the flea market is a dangerous thing!
Specially because there are so many things to tempt you and you end up buying so many fancy things in the spur of the moment.
Yet you did so well to focus on only two books!
Bravo you did so well to apply restraint.
Perhaps it can be the topic of a post- How to avoid the temptation of a flea market?
Which flea market is this ?
Hi dear @thetimetravelerz !
This could indeed be an idea :)
I've done so many and bought so much that now, when I don't buy anything, it's completely all right... Just seeing is already suffisant and nourishing ^^
It was in the 12th district, "marché d'Aligre" !
