My Actifit Report Card: March 26 2025 Family Gym Time

As they say, monkey see and monkey do. ๐Ÿ’

As my area is experiencing heavy rain and for some reason it seems people forget how to drive during these times, it was decided that I would get my workout in around the house using my assortment of fitness contraptions.

One of said contraptions for which I am particularly proud of in its ingenuity is the walker / treadmill combo. Yes, you read correctly. A walker like as in for the eldery. It is used as stabilizing rails to minimize the risk of slipping and busting my ass if I happen to drift.

The whole intent was to set this thing up in front of a screen and play POV videos of trail running or whatever.

Ever powerwalked through a roller coaster? You can now ๐Ÿ˜‰

Eventually, I may try this with full 360 videos and headset. Maybe set up the old shop fan to simulate a wind effect. My creativity knows no bounds.

As I continued to try and get my workout out of the way, the kiddos decided it would become a family event. Got a phone call, stepped off the treadmill and next thing you know my daughter has taken over it.

No matter. I have other contraptions such as the featured wrist roller. It can be fairly challenging if you try to hold your arms out parallel. I seemed only able to maintain 2 rep sets using that method.

In addition, I also got some resistance band training in. Had the yellow band around my ankles and performed lateral leg raises.

Eventually, I felt like I wanted a beer so I finished things up with a run to my local convenience store. Strangely, there appears to be a distance discrepancy between the trip when walking back vs running there. We may need to conduct further testing.

Next topic, I was, as my daughter would say, being "naughty dad" and I totally neglected to post the activity from earlier this week. On Tuesday, I went running with my beagle mix dog, Sammy, and it was a trying experience. He seemed intent to stop every few minutes to sniff this or that tuft of grass and / or mark his territory. Ain't nobody got time for dat!

I did pick up my piece of trash as is tradition

We got in a good 1.9 miles and then it was time for me to run solo but not just any run. A beer run!

To curb my unusual appetite for drink, I have implemented controls in my life. One such control is requiring that I actually run to go get my brewskies. I think it is actually working but there is an added benefit.

As many Actifitters would know, exercise results in the brain producing your feelgood endorphins. My working theory at the moment is by having the dose of endorphins my appetite for booze is diminished. It would seem this is the cause but, of course, it is anecdotal at this point. We may need to mark this item for further testing as well. Haha ๐Ÿป

I totally forgot. I was also wearing my EMS (Electrical Muscle Stimulation) belt on my abs on the maximum setting.

I cycled through each setting once. I think each one lasts 20 minutes so had the thing on for 120 minutes total.

Let's just say this thing is like the passive income of fitness but the stimulation can be a little jarring when you get started.

Sometimes, I will rotate it to target my obliques and it hurts so much more.

Good to have a fitness contraption that could also serve as a torture device if you ever need to conduct an impromptu interrogation session. I mean, who hasn't?
