Going Back to School: Grocery, Barbershop, Laundry Shop, and Buying a New Calculator

The summer vacation ended also the internship and now we have to go back to the reality of being a university student.

I went back to our boarding house last Friday bringing my stuff and left our town earlier in the morning. I prepared everything day before I left and list everything I need to do for the whole day on my to-do list.

I also went to a mini-grocery store so I can save money and get the items for the cheaper price. I always try to buy in bulk to get some discount.

You will feel being an adult when you are now going to grocery store and buying powdered soap, fabric conditioner, and body soap. These are the things that I planned to buy and already listed on my budget.

I was stopping myself going to junk food section to buy some for myself but since I really had to save money since I am in a tight budget, I immediately went to the counter to pay for my items.

I was with my mother and sister, but I told them that I will go first and leave the place immediately due to my personal agenda. I left and ride a jeep to go our boarding house.

It was Sunday and tomorrow will be the first day of school so I also had to cut my hair to have a pleasantly looking during the first day. I don’t have the time to cut it during the summer vacation because I want to be consistent in going to the same barbershop.

After arriving to our boarding house, I made sure to be organized at my bed. I fixed everything and took a rest before going to the barbershop. It was also afternoon so I stopped for few minutes because of the hot temperature outside.

After taking a rest, I went to the barbershop and as expected, I had to wait for more than an hour for my turn because there are many people on the line.

I did not manage to capture a better photo because I was a bit shy.

Next on my task is to go to laundry shop to wash and dry my clothes. I was hesitant to pay for this because I know that it will be expensive and it will be better to wash it by myself but I am not sure if my clothes will be dried by tomorrow.

Also, I have a lot of laundry so it will be much exhausting, the employee even told that it will exceed to 8 kilos of laundry since there’s a blanket and comforter that I use as my bed cover.

It was a bit annoying, funny, and grateful experience because of the employee at the laundry shop. She was too nosy when it comes to my decision. The price of the standard wash is PHP 55.00 while the standard dry is PHP 65.00.

The employee told me that I have to pay twice the amount because the machine can only carry 8 kilograms and I have to use two machines. I told her that I will wash the blanket and comforter by myself at my place and only wash the clothes instead so I can save money. She was pushing me to wash it there instead and even laughing (smiling?) at me.

The good thing is the owner told me to wash twice separating the clothes and the blanket and comforter and then use the drying machine at once putting altogether. She even told me that she will give me a free fabric conditioner.

This gave me a relief and left frustration to the employee for making me pay around PHP 300.00 and grateful to the owner for saving me, I only paid PHP 207.00 and got a loyalty card from them. The owner was also kind for having small talks with me and telling me some about their business franchise.

My budget was only around PHP 120.00 to PHP 150.00, but still, it gave me convenience and save more time instead of washing it all by myself.

After that, I took a bath and went to SM Angono to buy a calculator. My calculator is not working anymore and I had to buy a new one since I need it for my course. It too unfortunate that I had to buy unexpectedly and out of my budget.

I paid a total of PHP 1,799.00 for my calculator and left immediately. I did not stay at SM Angono for a long time because I know to myself that I will buy something again (food) and I don’t want to spend anymore. I just spent a lot that day.

The cashier told me that there’s a raffle promo at National Bookstore and I just got a raffle entry for buying a calculator. In total, I got 9 raffle entries for my purchase and even I am not lucky with raffles like this, I tried my luck and join the raffle.

Who knows I might be lucky this time?

I arrived at home at 8:00 PM feeling hungry. So, I just went to this eating place and bought a Pares Mami with rice for only PHP 55.00.

It was a very tiring day. I spent a lot for going to school and now I have to work again so I can save and have some funds for my mini-business at our boarding house. I spent some of my money last semester and during my internship so I have no funds left.
